Will Escape Help?

Think I'm going with an Anderson hitch for my 21.
Anyone know if Escape will help with the installation of the sway brackets that attach to the trailer frame when I take delivery?

Yes they will. Are you ordering it through them? Someone at Escape (Dennis) will do all the towing setup for you, just to make sure that it all works.

I don't think that Escape still sells the Anderson hitch. It's not in the options or on the build sheet.

Before ordering call Andersen and ask them about getting a bit longer (3" max) stinger so you can open your tailgate more easily. Shouldn't cost much more. What kind of TV do you have?

They stopped selling the Andersen hitch a couple of years ago because of some issues people were having with the braking material inside the ball insert, etc. Andersen apparently fixed those issues. Ours was installed by Escape when they still offered it, and we've had no issues at all.

Best bet though is to contact Escape and ask directly. If they agree to install it, you would have to supply the hitch. Andersen makes many sizes, so be careful to choose the exact one.

I had one of the original Andersen on my first 21 Escape, it had the universal brackets which were too large. I stopped in Idaho Falls, Id at their factory on the way to Osoyoos and had the fortunate opportunity to meet Jason, their representative who came out to the parking lot and put on the right sized brackets. I believe item #3343 for 4" frames is what you want.

I really like the Andersen hitch and ours was one of the last ones that Escape sold in Sept. of 2015. Loren
