Only thinking about it at this point. Thought we should check out the camping potential early, however. Aisworth State Park looked nice but it's so far out and we really don't want to fight the traffic gong show every day on the way into town.

If we do manage to go to the convention, maybe I should take these along .

Doug

Way cool! Nice post. Includes everything important (except maybe, steam power).

Hey Doug, thought so. We were going to head down to Portland as well but we have now opted to head up to Haida Gwaii with the trailer and kayaks for 2 months this summer.

I'll second Rutterslo's recommendation of Jantzen RV Park. We've stayed there several times. It's centrally located, with friendly staff and clean restrooms. And we haven't noticed much airplane noise.

What's the transit situation from Jantzen to the pubs in downtown Portland and back?

there is a MAX station at Delta park, just a couple miles from the RV park at Jantzen. Pretty EZ! gotta love the pubs of PDX!

yeah funny thing on Hayden Island/ Jantzen beach is I-5 is the only way on/off the area, besides boat so during heavy traffic it can be a bear. We tried to never leave the island during rush hour. coming home from the pub? prolly NOT rush hour!

If you're interested in a more camping experience, but still not far from Portland, you may wish to check this out: Welcome to Sandy Riverfront RV Resort!
