Planning and calling ahead is key.
I try to avoid this while traveling as it sometimes adds some stress because of the time restraints, hours of operation. I like driving until I get tired and then look for a stop at a rest area. The Escape is a perfect overnight room with heat and lights and bathroom. My final destination will have reservations though.
