Golden BC Municipal Campground

Enjoying the first trip of the season in Golden just over the Kicking Horse Pass west of my home base in Canmore AB. A lot lower and warmer on this side of the rockies Golden Municipal Campground is open year round which is rare in eastern BC.

http://www.goldenmunicipalcampground.com/

Not at all rural but VERY quiet small valley town surrounded by high peaks all around. Sites back on to the Kicking Horse River with a nice walking path into town on the near side bank and CP Rail on the other side. Like a lot of places in the Canadian west including Banff and Lake Louise you have to like trains to be here they run steadily day and night.

Neat and clean heated washrooms, laundry, shower (6 mins for a Loonie :-)

Nice off season rates with 30 amp connection inc. free wifi if your close enough to the admin building. Just 5% GST from April 1 now that BC dumped the HST.

Im a happy camper

I love skiing there, but haven't for a couple years now. I have skied some fantastic powder snow off the two top ridges.

I ski here a couple times a winter.. had one great day this year that involved some hiking and boot packing quite a ways left and right of the gondola.. fantastic POW on the colder days..

Finally stopped skiing long enough to grab a couple pix

First shot shows me in site #1 nice and close to the Admin building with the showers and laundry. Kicking Horse river behind the bern at rear of the trailer. Yellow train cars are on the tracks on the opposite river bank. Kicking Horse ski resort through the trees.

Second shot of my iPad using the free Wifi watching the SD at LA ballgame in my rear lounge area.. good view of the mountains out the passenger side rear window over the top of the palm tree in the feed from Dodger Stadium.

Im a happy camper :-)
