Clyde Holliday Park is one of our favorite campgrounds. We've stayed there several times.

Nicely landscaped and well taken care of.

The fossil beds spread out over a large area, so I've stayed in a couple of places in the area. Clyde Holiday is one, and another is in the town of Fossil at the Wheeler County Park near the rodeo grounds. Inexpensive, with full hookups for $18.75 per night (weekly rate). Fossil has an interesting town museum with the only gasoline power iron I've seen.
When in the area, be sure to see the Kam Wah Chung & Co building in John Day. Another interesting museum or sorts. Some photos.
We stayed at Clyde Holiday while we were there. It has power and water and free showers. The town of Fossil has a campground too but we didn't check it out. I believe it has electricity. The BLM campgrounds Muleshoe near Prineville looks like an OK spot to stay too (no service)... There's also a dispersed spot right outside Painted Hills unit (I think it's listed as Burnt Ranch Road campground in Campedium) that looks doable for a trailer. The thing with John Days is they have three units that are spread out so far, if you want to pick a "central" location then Muleshoe/Service Creek is the spot.. however that's also kind of "middle of nowhere" to any service...
