K'esugi Ken

We just got back from a week long trip to Chena Hot Springs and on the way back home had the chance to stop at a new campground that is due to open Memorial Day weekend.

K’esugi Ken campground, Alaska State Parks:South Denali Visitor Complex

The campground is located on a ridge above the Parks Highway with phenominal views of Denali and the Alaska Range. If your traveling in the Denali area this summer stop and check it out. Beautiful! Scott

Thanks for the heads up on the new camp Scott. It looks delux, electric even. That area needed some campsites? I wonder how long it is open in the shoulder season?

Steve, they usually keep the gates open through the second, third week of September. This year with all of the budget cuts due to the low price of oil, it would be anyones guess. Camping there on a blue bird day with the mountain out will be spectacular. There is also a nice trail that leads up to K'esugi ridge which is a one of my favorite hikes to do in Alaska. Scott
