Minnesota Campgrounds
As I write I am sitting in Ogstons RV Park in Duluth Minnesota watching the sun set over the pond in front of our trailer. It is a private campground with a lot of seasonals, and while the sites are lined up in the usual way, there is a reasonable amount of space between them.. There are three fishing ponds within the campground -- people use canoes and paddle boats. I went for a walk after dinner and nearly got lost in the acres and acres of walking paths that are probably amazing for bird watching. The wild flowers were wonderful. Like other private campgrounds we've been to, the bathrooms are clean, and the shower is laid out well, but there is only one shower stall. Most people use their campers, but it seems to me like there should be more stalls.
The last two nights we were in Buffalo River State Park -- there we had an electric hookup -- there is a large swimming pond and walking paths through the prairie grass and the woods. The sites are laid out similar to a private campground, with more space in between them than you find in a private campground. It was a comfortable place to be, with lots of shade trees. They take reservations, so we thought we'd have to leave after one night, but something opened up and we got to stay an extra night. During the week the campground seems to be fairly empty -- it is a weekend place.
