New Mexico hates me

In 2015 I spent several weeks in eastern New Mexico and was bombarded with stormy weather everywhere I went. The natives were thrilled, as the reservoirs filled at every state park I visited.

On my current trip I got thirteen inches of snow over the weekend at Hyde Memorial State Park near Santa Fe. Fortunately it is melting rapidly.

quite a snow load on top of the awning....guess if it's cozy and warm inside the trailer, it could be fun!
the table looks like it has extra thick cushions...

That is what happens when you relocate to Florida to escape the snow and then travel, it catches up to you.

That is why I did not want to be in Santa Fe. Albuquerque or lower will keep you out of the snow much better. In winter though, even the far south of New Mexico may be below freezing. You would have to be in one of the nearby states, south.

Moisture!

I remember you posting about how the rain was following you around last year.

I think the photos with all that snow is fake or taken some other time. I think you've secretly been traveling around the west coast of Washington and Oregon and that's why we've been getting ssssoooo much rain lately.

You're the reason we're breaking records of how much rain fall we've received. I hope you feel good about yourself.

Needless to say, I'm so sick of this rain.

At least it's different from back home! Isn't that why we travel?

I'm a native Floridian and moved back home when I retired, so in my mind that doesn't count. I have a neighbor at home who is from New York. One day I told him I'd like to see one more good snowfall. Well, I've seen it now; I'm done.

When I lived in NW-PA the (lake effect) snow came and stayed from October to early May. Shucks, Mike, we are now just 60 miles south of where you were and got a mere 8 inches, and because it's New Mexico, all gone in 22 hours.

I went elk hunting in January of 2016 . We were in Eagle Nest NM up at about an elevation of 9000 ft . The snow was beautiful and so peaceful . It was 11 below zero one morning but it felt warm compared to Wisconsin. The only reason I can figure out why is that the cold in NM is a dry cold .
We are planning our second elk hunt for January of 2018 .
Can't wait to go back , the scenery is magnificent and so are the people and the weather.
