Shutdown Status for Quartzsite LTVAs

As some of you know, I've been in the LaPosa West LTVA (Long Term Visitor Area) since mid November.

Starting today (with the government shutdown) they have closed the entrance stations (no gates, so you can still enter) but posted a notice listing where the local dump stations & water fills are located. I didn't drive out to the LaPosa South dump station, but I suspect it is closed, along with the water fill stations.

So far, there is still toilet paper in the vault toilets!

And, it is down to 58°F and raining.

Looking at an old shutdown, they said that they could not fund the trash collection and water and dump stations at La Posa so you are probably right.

Hopefully the shutdown will not last long.

Good luck Jon -- hopefully this will be resolved quickly.

Nice that there are no gates. Basically saying we are closed, but we aren’t kicking you out. Much better deal than we got in NJ when the state gov’t shut down over Memorial Day weekend this past summer. People with reservations at any state campground were kicked out of their campsites and gates were locked. Then to make matters worse they caught our then governor Christie on the beach in one of the closed parks. You can’t make this stuff up.

Not going there because it will be considered political... But all the memes of Christie (doing stupid stuff) are ALL over the web and they're FUNNY! Google is your friend....

For anyone planning to use them, as of 12:20PM, 1/21/18, the water fill & dump stations at La Posa South are open. Long lines - it is the Big Tent Week...

You are indeed lucky that you are where you are! I expect that all of the regular campgrounds are cleared out. Perhaps they know that they can't stop the huge influx in the general Quartzsite area.
