Silver Falls State Park, Oregon
We just returned from four days in Silver Falls State Park and another four days at Nehalem Bay State Park. Things that make Silver Falls a great place to go:
1. great scenery -- waterfalls, flowers see

2. good campsite -- it was not crowded, facilities are good, the host was excellent
3. easy to get to -- less than an hour's drive south from Portland
4. better weather than the coast -- we had two days of warm weather -- temperatures of 26 deg. C (78 deg F.)

Re: Silver Falls State Park, Oregon
Silver Falls is beautiful, a true gem of a park. Pictures can hardly do it justice, but you have some great shots, esp. the wild flowers that adorn the trailsides.
We are considering Silver Falls as our first destination for a "shake-down" trip as soon as we get the the trailer home, just before heading out for the summer.
The only thing is that there is so much to do - waterfalls, hiking, cycling, etc. that we would not spend much time in the trailer tweaking things. But that is the way it should be, I guess.
Hope you enjoyed the Oregon spring!

Hi: David R... Looks to me like a park where multiple visits are required!!! Alf

Re: Silver Falls State Park, Oregon
Alf, it is definitely a park to return to again and again. Whenever family comes to visit, we take them to the Colombia River Gorge, the Oregon Coast, and Silver Falls. It easily ranks up there with the first two, even more so if you are looking for a quieter destination to enjoy away from the crowds.
I highly recommend it to anyone traversing Oregon. It is well worth the 2-hour trip inland if you are traveling up or down the coast.

Re: Silver Falls State Park, Oregon
Brian, how was Nehalem Bay? Were you there for the fiberglass rally?
We heard from neighbors that there were 4 Escapes there last weekend amid dozens of Casitas, etc. and were sad that we could not get to the coast to check things out.
