St. Louis to Austin

Picking up a 2010 17B just outside St. Louis and returning to the Austin, TX area next week. Suggestions on camping places enroute? Plan to take 3-4 days, shake down and look around. Prefer non-commercial campgrounds, should not require hookups, but ok if available.

Thanks

Branson? Robbers Cave (https://www.travelok.com/state-parks/6415) in Oklahoma. https://www.arkansasstateparks.com/p...ine-state-park Soak in mineral water and get a massage at Hot Springs NP.

Roaring River State Park in SW Missouri is lovely if you are taking I44. We travel from mid-MO to the Austin area several times each year and that is a beautiful stop. From there we normally go through NW Arkansas to Fort Smith then into SW OK through Poteau and stay at Talihina State Park or go a bit further to Clayton Lake State Park-gets us off crowded interstates for awhile and is a beautiful drive. Pick up the Indian Nations turnpike into Hugo and continue on 271 into Paris, TX. We go through Sulphur Springs, Canton, Athens, and Corsicana, then Waco and on into the Austin area. I am sure you are probably familiar with TX state parks-very nice.
Other options:
If you would like to experience Branson (lots to do there) you could continue south down 65 into AR and take 412 east to Springdale. I haven't been on that road in a few years but it was good last time. Table Rock State Park is close to Branson.

If you want a shorter first day, get off I44 at Lebanon and go west on 64 to Bennett Spring State Park, a real gem with nice facilities and a trout hatchery. Campground 5 is walk up, Campground 4 reservation but nice also. Rustic lodge with a cool restaurant. Very scenic.

I would try to get reservations if you plan to use MO state parks as they get busy in June.
Enjoy your new-to-you Escape! Happy travels!
