Taughannock Falls State Park, Ithaca New York
Our youngest son graduated from Cornell two weeks ago and we camped 10 miles away in Taughannock falls State Park. It was lovely. There is a loop with electricity and while tlhe campsites aren't huge and there's not a lot of privacy, they were comfortable, probably because they all back onto the woods. It was Memorial Day Weekend and we were a little leery about potentially drunk college students, but it was mostly families and everyone was pretty mellow. And if you don't care about electricity, there are larger sites.
You can take a two minute drive to the lake or a short walk and there is an easy short hike to the falls. We've camped there before when we went to the Grass Roots Music Festival -- it's a nice park.
Ithaca is a small city/town with limited accommodations which get really pricey on graduation weekend and the restaurants are jammed. It was the best possible way for us to attend the graduation events. So if you're in this area, looking for a pretty place to camp, swim, kayak, etc., check it out.
