Re: Vancouver Island - need some advise

We were wondering about the campgrounds on the Island, if it's typically crowded or can we just call a couple of days prior to arriving on the Island to get space at a park/RV park..

The more we research, the more we're thinking of driving up to Alaska/Denali first and then possibly taking the ferry back via the inside passage.. We'll have a better idea on how Sammy is doing in the RV and how he'll handle the long Ferry ride.

That could be a very good idea.

What you need to check out is the departure and arrival times so that you don't do the scenery in the dark.

Many years ago we took the ferry from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert in late summer. It left late in the day and arrived early in the morning. All I can remember about that trip was that the bar was in the centre of the ship and was surrounded by six-foot walls to prevent any children from seeing people with drinks. Which meant you couldn't see out. It was pouring rain anyway, so not a lot of reason to leave the bar. Rest of the trip was in the dark. We had a stateroom, and in the vacant room next door, clothes hangers banged against the steel wall of the closet.

That was about 35 years ago, so a lot has changed.

Still, I'd check.
