32 degrees F (0 C) -- SHOULD I WORRY?

Last Friday when I picked up my new 17B, I asked that the trailer be dewinterized. So now it sits cold and unheated in my driveway, and the temperature has just dropped to 32 degrees F at 0245 in the morning. I doubt it will get any colder. Should I be worried? Should I run out and get the heat turned on? Thank you.

No worries at all. Temperatures must be below freezing to change from a liquid to solid state. I have regularly camped with temps down to -5°C (and even a bit lower a few times). As long as daytime temps get a ways above freezing, you will be fine. Other than the holding tank, and the water line to inside from it, all other fresh water is inside your trailer.

The only problem I ever had was on the last camping trip on year, I went to winterize before I tore down camp, and the low-point drain had frozen up a bit. I just held it in my warm hands for a while, and away it went.

As Jim says

Last winter I dewinterized at our daughter's in KS in January as the temps were not supposed to go down below freezing or minimally. But one night it went to 20 when I checked the trailer the only thing frozen was the line from the tank, when it thawed all was fine in the trailer.

Now this year not so lucky, dewinterized in NM to find leak in the water heater bypass line, I must have forgotten to reopen it when winterizing so it cost $240 (340 of our dollarettes) to replace the line and a valve

Jim and Adrian, thanks for the info. After I posted my note I went out to the trailer and turned on the heater. Probably a bit of overkill on my part. Thanks again for your reassuring comments and lessons learned. This forum is a godsend for a novice like me!

32 and good

Here in Tucson we do see 20's once in a while. If I think it might be cold I plug in the little 120v heater set at a low setting and I wrapped the supply line from fresh tank with foam pipe insulation. Everything is then good. If you don't have a plug in then I would set the thermostat at about 33/34.

We camped once where the temperature got down to 8F overnight with no freezing except for the water hose. Still can't believe I forgot to disconnect it. One of many 'duh' moments, but it was our first trip.
