Hi: Chapitre... We always leave the MaxxFan open about an inch. That usually lets out enough air to keep the moisture from being a problem. A plastic bucket on the floor with a container of Dri-Z-Air in it, will also help collect moisture. The bucket is important if you don't visit often to empty the tray...VERY SLIPPERY STUFF!!! Alf

Chapi, we close everything up tight. I feel if it is dry inside when you park it, and close everything, there is no possibility for moisture ingress. Has worked for me the past 25 yeas of owning an RV, though we do get fairly dry winters around here.

I put one of these in, check it every so often and recharge as necessary. I like that it is easy to recharge and use over and over.

We use 2 of the same thing. Keep the trailer closed up unless it is a low humidity day in which case I will open everything up maybe once a month for the day and close back up before night.

De-Winterization: When to pull the anode

I've emptied all tanks and have run fresh water - twice. No pink residue or smell. Confused. When do I pull the anode? Before or after sanitizing?
Thanks!

Before or after, not a lot of difference. You can change the anode anytime. Usually there can be debris from the anode in the hot water tank and you may want to flush it out.
Also, remember if the water system has been in use that the tank is pressurized. Open a hot water tap and depressurize the system unless you want an unexpected face wash.

Thanks, Ron. To be clear, I DO need to make sure the water heater isn't bypassed before adding bleach?

Yes, if you put it in bypass when you winterized you'd change the valves so you sanitize the tank also.

When sanitizing, I run water through the water heater and the bypass to ensure bacteria is treated in both the tank and bypass tubing.
When winterizing, depressurize the plumbing by turning off the pump and opening both the hot and cold water valves. Then drain the hot water heater by removing the anode. Flush the hot water heater using a wand that Camco sells. Then replace anode. When blowing out tubing for winterizing, use the bypass so you do not pressurize the hot water tank nor push water into the drained tank.

Thanks, guys! I'm recovering from a stroke so don't always see what is obvious to others. I appreciate your patience.
