Draining the water tank?

How do I get that remaining inch or so of water out of the water tank? Our Escape is within 1/8" of level, but the tank drain valve is placed about 1" above the tank bottom leaving a puddle of water in the tank...

You don't. Just leave it. If it freezes, no matter. There's tons of room for expansion.

I've never understood why they make the tanks with a drain on the side instead of the bottom, but as Glenn mentions, leaving a small amount of water in the tank isn't a problem. You just sanitize the water system when you next use it.

Another option if you must get all the water out is to glue in a plug or valve on the bottom of the tank.

If you want to block up one side you can get a little more out, or park on a slope and open the drain cock. But as has been stated, that ice disk that will form in the belly of the tank doesn’t hurt a thing.
