Smile Fire extinguisher date

Hello all.

Is anybody checking expiry dates on their fire extinguishers?
They are good for ten years.
Since we took delivery of our 17 B back in January 2005 it is now close to expiry date. Was made in 2004, date on the bottom of the thingy.
So, it is time for me to replace it, just to be on the safe side. All these fire around British Columbia sort of get you thinking a bit.
Our trailer has production number 35.We still love it.
Have a good summer.
And Happy Trails to you.

A fireman friend of mine recommended that a dry chemical extinguisher like these be upended and shaken once a year to keep the agent inside from getting packed down. Good time to check the expiration date. I have 7 around my house and shop and it's a New Years Day event for me to check/shake them.

Wow, one of the early ones, good to know they are still happy with the unit.

Shaking is good, or a couple of taps with a rubber mallet on the bottom, just don't drop. If you replaced it, remember to buy a Class ABC, and not the one sold as Kitchen Fire Extinguisher.

A lot of people owned Fire Extinguishers but don't know how to use them. Remember the acronym PASS.

Pull the pin.
Aim at the base of the fire from a safe distance.
Squeeze the handle.
Sweep the agent at the fire.

Mine gets well shaken on some of the roads I travel.

Happened to be reminded about extinguishers. Checked, no date but green button on the ETI standard one springs back.
