110V AC should work just great. I have never had a problem with it in any RV fridge I have had. It sounds like you are setting yours properly, so there is definitely an issue.
If you haven't, the first thing to check is to make sure the breaker isn't tripped, sometimes it is a bit hard to tell because the handle on the breaker only goes over a bit. To reset, you turn it off, then back on. If you have an electrical meter you could check for 110V where it connects to the fridge. If that is fine, then there must be an issue with the fridge itself, which most likely means you should have an authorized repair person look at it. They will find the problem in short order.
