Fridge on A/C

Hi,

My 2004's fridge works great on propane. However, when I try and run it on AC nothing seems to happen. I followed the instructions - turned to AC, Switch B to #4. Does anyone else have this issue? I talked to a local fellow, and he said that AC never works on these type of fridges .... Is AC a bit of a dud on all the RV fridges, or do I have an issue to troubleshoot?

110V AC should work just great. I have never had a problem with it in any RV fridge I have had. It sounds like you are setting yours properly, so there is definitely an issue.

If you haven't, the first thing to check is to make sure the breaker isn't tripped, sometimes it is a bit hard to tell because the handle on the breaker only goes over a bit. To reset, you turn it off, then back on. If you have an electrical meter you could check for 110V where it connects to the fridge. If that is fine, then there must be an issue with the fridge itself, which most likely means you should have an authorized repair person look at it. They will find the problem in short order.

If you have power going to the receptacle (see below) the fridge is plugged into (you can test this by plugging anything electrical into it)
then it will most likely be the heating element in the fridge is burnt out, this is not that uncommon,
I have had to change them before in campers I have worked on.

This is a picture of my neighbour's camper I rewired due to
squirrels that moved in and ate ALL the fridge AC wiring.

Wow Doug. I have heard of mice getting in, but never tree sharks.

I guess some fridges just plug in then, our 89 Terry was hard wired into a junction box. Makes more sense with a plug.
