Sandra, not sure if you meant this question for me or not, but I don't plan a front hatch, I may do a passenger side on under the dinette, we'll see. I was thinking of mounting a box with the generator in it just above the propane tanks, as long as it does not interfere with the window and rock guard.

Re: Generator for Escape

Hi Sandra, I would be worried about water leaks on a forward facing hatch.

I believe they will be covered by the front rock guards while travelling. From what I have learned, side ones are not feasible for the front dinette access. I don't know of others that have had the front ones. I think I would be warned if there was a problem. Thanks for your concern.

Re: Generator for Escape

I have the hatch at the front right side of the trailer. I think it is tight enough that water isn't a problem. The hatch looks like it comes from the marine industry. And, then the rock guard covers it.

Bad news the new Carrier low profile 13,500 BTU air conditioner draws 13.4 amps
and the Honda EU2000ic generator can supply a continuous 13.3 amps so the Honda is out
for me as I first of all wanted it to run the AC, pump etc.

Re: Generator for Escape

Did you see this on the web-site for electrical draw that I posted in this thread?

*7000 BTU to 10000 BTU
Running: 1000-1500. Starting: 2200-5000.
(A/C's are a very difficult load because of the high start-up surge. Use the Locked Rotor Amps to determine the start up surge requirement).

It's pretty much Greek to me, but, I gather with A/C you can't just concern yourself with running power draw.

Re: Generator for Escape

Hi Glenn
When ever you start a compressor there will be a higher draw.
The Honda 2000 will power the AC unit Reace was putting
inside the 17's but not the new roof mounts he's using.
This is a bummer as I think Honda still makes one of the
best gas powered generators.

Re: Generator for Escape

Is there a roof mount A/C unit out there that draw less? With adding the extra insulation and thermal windows, I would be more then happy to have less capacity for cooling. Heck, I don't even plan on having it installed for some time yet.
