Hot Water Bypass Direction

Now that we've moved to a location that has something called "Winter", I am in the process of blowing out the water lines. I bought a hand pump to get some RV antifreeze into the system as well. However, I'm unsure as to the proper direction of the bypass valves for the hot water heater. Here's a photo, which way do I go?

In the photo, you are bypassing the water heater.
