Lubricant / NOT WD 40

This is what I use for awning arms, snaps, WDHitch.
Available at Home Hardware and basically anywhere else that sells hardware.
If I need a penetrating spray, I use Jigaloo. Doesn't stink, like WD40.

Someone suggested putting some lithium grease on the ball of the Andersen hitch to stop the squeaking. It worked!

As long as it stays on the ball, and doesn't get down into the brake lining material in the cone below the ball - I assume that would not be good.

For my awning arms, I use a clear graphite spray. It dries right away, allowing smooth operation, and does not attract dirt.

I do use a lithium grease for hinges though.

Wow I have a lot to learn I thought wd40 was great! But it does attract dirt . Although I've never sprayed it on anything that wasn't metal. And I hate to admit it but I've never greased my ball -of my hitch it's a horse trailer not a travel trailer but I'm guessing the idea is the same it make sense - never really had and issues it's a gooseneck it works fine.

I have never greased the ball of a hitch before either. On our way home from Chilliwack last fall our Andersen hitch started squeaking and it got worse each day. DonF mentioned it in his post (http://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f3...home-3340.html) that he put a small amount of lithium grease on the ball and the problem went away. Other than what Brian mentioned above, is there any reason we shouldn't do this? It didn't take very much to quiet it down.

Just a note, I applied the grease to the hitch ball after Anderson recommended I do so to quiet the squeaking.
