Chicken Fried Steak is kind of an art form here. Lots of places claim to have the best one. It is not the same though as 'Country Fried Steak' - (cube steak with brown gravy). Chicken Fried Steak is also not cube steak -- it's real steak that's been pounded out a bit, coated and fried, then covered in a cream gravy made with flour and the pan drippings. I suggest the Gristmill in Gruene for the perfect Chicken Fried Steak but bring an appetite - it's rather large.

A lot of the misnomers are due to location names, as Key Lime Pie originated in the Florida keys, Boston Cream Pie (which is really a cake) started in Boston, Buffalo wings, Buffalo, NY and so on.

Not quite old enough to have tasted a Coke when it had Coca extract, but I do recall the days when it was made with cane sugar instead of corn syrup. So much better. We sometimes go to one of the Mexican Markets here so we can find some -- the Mexican version still uses sugar.

Several products are switching back to sugar vs high fructose corn syrup, for example Log Cabin Maple syrup.
