Washing without removing the wax

Since picking up our 19 on March 29, we've logged over 3,000 miles. That said, the road grime is starting to show.

I'd like to give the Escape a bath but don't want to remove the wax applied be ETI. Any recommendations on a wash down product that won't take the wax off?

Thanks

Simonize Wash and Wax.
It contains wax and is what I use to wash the trailer regularly, between proper wax jobs.

ETI doesn't apply wax. The very shiny finish, never to be seen again at some point, depending on how much TLC is given to preserve it, isn't something put on by ETI.

The mold is heavily waxed. The polyester resin contains styrene that removes a bit of the mold wax as each part is made. At some point, if someone just kept making parts out of the mold without waxing it the mold surface would be damaged by resin sticking to it. So the beautiful finish when new is part of the manufacturing process, not a wax put on after molding.

I wouldn't worry about washing the trailer. It won't damage the surface and if you re-wax it'll look good as new.

Ron
After we bought ours back from Chilliwack to Florida I washed all the bugs off. I had to scrub to remove them and it took awhile. After I waxed it the next batch of bugs were a lot easier to remove.
That's one thing about traveling between Florida and North Carolina, you are going to collect a lot of bugs.

Waxing the roof

We're going to wax our 19 today for the first time. Any suggestions on how to reach the out-of-reach areas on the roof?

This is a huge problem for me. And I hate ladders. I've spent a lot of time communicating with all kinds of all-molded-towable owners about this problem. I've ordered Bow To Stern spray. I'm going to 'polish it off' with a rag wrapped around the wash brush of my MOHO telescopic wash pole. In the areas I can't reach with the 'rag' will be fine left to air cure.

I'd rather have a cabana boy do the work....

Hi: MyronL... I have the same problem. I'm built to close to the ground too!!! Also when taking pic's I tend to cut off heads as well. It's all better than the "G" note I owe for the professional "Spa" treatment on our "Escape Hatch II". It's never been waxed and required compounding too!!! Alf

I've used BTS since new with good results. Not shiny but seems to work.

I don't really care about shiny. I just want to protect the roof, which I can't reach easily. I have the good stuff for all the sides.

I know you said you hate ladders Donna, but I would not be without my podium ladder when washing the trailer. The platform is at a 6 foot height, and makes getting to the center of the roof very easy. They also make 7 , 8 and 9 foot podium ladders if you need more height. The thing I like about it the most is how stable it is, and the wide platform for your feet. I never get the sense that its wobbly or feeling unsafe when I'm working on it.Name: 051751121155lg.jpeg
