So you are looking at about $25/wheel in parts plus grease and labor, so $100/axle installed is not too bad.

Wheel Bearing Maintenance

I'd bet that the cost differential between the current model maintenance intensive axle and the new sealed bearing model is less than one or two commercially done maintenance job.

On the left the Dexter Fusion loc seal with a nice yallow factry paint job , on the right the original 10-04 seal with the single edge rubber. The fusion loc has a continuous rubber seal with a front and back lip. Yeah that's the kitchen table where I do my best work.

When you need to purchase these items, just let them know that your axle is Number 10 and 2500 pounds, and they will know what you need.

I found Timken Made in USA bearings on Amazon.

That was what I received from Escape also . The problem when I called to order from trailer supply vender they wanted seal dimensions and identification numbers on the bearings . That is all fine and good , but I don't want to take apart wheel hub and it will be undone until I have the parts . I want quality seals and bearings . Timken , SK , etc. I am familiar with . I just don't want Chinese junk . Going to call Dexter on Monday to confirm the numbers I have , then I can order . If push comes to shove I guess I will have to take apart a wheel .Just frustrated for something not that hard . Once I have my numbers I never will have to go through this again . Pat

I suggest leaving out the "2500 pounds", unless you're replacing the entire axle - it won't help with bearings, seals, or brakes (since it makes no difference to them), and it may just confuse them because bearing and seal suppliers will think of it as a 3500 pound axle.

Update :
Made all my calls this morning . Talked to Dexter axle warranty dept . Was able to get a whole good sticker off my axle with my serial number and other info on it . Have my seals ordered this time with Dexter . Also gave me a couple of cross reference numbers with approved seal manufacturers. The warranty dept sent me all my axle information they have ,purchased in Canada, using my serial axle number .. So I am a happy camper now . Before Dexter still venders wanted diameter seal information etc, so I ended up calling Dexter . I can use the ez lube double lip seal too. I even now have my bearing , brake and part schematic number and pictures , sent from Dexter . Pat

No problem doing that if it helps others . How do I ? Don't forget they looked my information up using my serial number on my axle. I would suggest others get under their trailer and if sticker won't come off easy without tearing , take a picture of the sticker and save it . The sticker will eventually wear away with time . There was a total of 4 on my 2 axles . 2 on each . Luckily the one I got off was lifting a little . It is kind of just paper ,but to Dexter it identifies your axle for any parts . Pat

I'm busy binge-watching House of Cards.
Donna will take care of it, or I'll figure it out.

I'm pretty sure I can service the bearings in less time than it took everybody including me to describe how to do it. It ain't rocket science.
