And since then, but before the new body mould, it was changed to 3210 pounds. I can only guess that the increase from 3050 to 3210 was due to either a change in standard equipment, or a correction of an optimistic earlier estimate.

Perhaps - and this is certainly speculation - the 340 pound increase of the weight of the 19' is a combination of
  • new-this-year body shape
  • wider frame for new-this-year body
  • new-this-year standard equipment
  • catching up on earlier changes such as from 1.5"x3" frame to 2"x4" frame
  • correcting earlier estimated weight

496 lb for the base 19 and 160 for Rousse 21 . Pat

I believe that the previous (classic) dry weight was "as-certified" as a 19. This would have been with the 3"x2" frame. Since some time in 2014, 4"x 2" is the standard frame material for all Escapes. (They were not re-certified at that time.)
With the new Escapes measured "as-built" (with 4x2 frames), that would explain the majority of the weight difference,

Too many numbers are confusing, the numbers quoted need to be off the website for the basic model from the factory for the old style to compare to the newer model. What your specific weight is/was is based upon your options and other items and stamped on your label is not pertinent right now. It is well known we have to add in options and until one weighs their unit at a highway scale the difference between wet and dry is not known. So we are trying to establish the basic model weight, before options. Then we can compare your model's weight, as equipped from the factory, based upon the label in your closet. Then you need to get the trailer weight
at a scale after you put your possessions inside. So there are 3 weights we are trying to determine, for both models.

So the base dry weights known for the 19' include:
  • 2454 lb - 2013 (Pat and Linda's)
  • 2510 lb - late 2013 brochure
  • 2610 lb - published on website up to 2016; published in 2016 brochure
  • 2950 lb - reported in e-mail from Escape for new body style
As-equipped weights are higher, of course.

Some of these changes are due to equipment or design changes; some may just be corrections.

Yes, the 19's were given as 2510 and later 2610 and then they just gave the new weight. I don't know anything about your weight, Pat!

We have the 4" frame on our 2013 too and Reace told me back then that it added 50 lbs over the 3". Don't know if he was estimating or if he had weighed it.

If it added anything like 50 pounds, either I've substantially miscalculated (which is possible ) or there were more changes than the box section size - perhaps crossmembers and gussets. There just isn't enough frame rail length of this size (the rear section is 1.5"x3" even when the rest is 2"x4") to account for 50 pounds.

It's hard to understand why any 19' built in 2014 would have the 3" frame, since the 4" frames were already in use in 2013.

Per my steel book (which I finally was able to dig out and dust off!),
the difference between 4x4x3/16 wall and 3x1½x3/16 wall is about 1¼ lbs. per foot.
So with about 30 ft. of main frame (tongue to behind axles), the difference is less than 40 lbs., so Reace's 'thumb' answer of 50 lbs. is reasonable and conservative.
So the extra weight has to be fiberglass, wood, and a lot of extra heavy lovin' care in assembly.
How's that for a computation?

Tammy told me the 2017 21' was increasing in weight only approximately 100 lbs. She said that the 21 changed the least in weight as the tank sizes and much else were still the same, and the weight change was mainly due to fiberglass and reinforcement design changes.

Anyone would have been lucky to get out of the factory with less than 3000 lbs. if you mean with options. The new ones will be closer to 3500 lbs.
