Watch the "other than 58"- we chose a color based on a small sample and it happened to be Radiance finish, which is a flecky kind of thing. Cost us an extra $100; would've preferred a matte finish- which is 58.

The best advice I can pay it forward with is to tell you to order the 5"x7" samples from Formica.. they're $1 each. CHEAP compared to making a mistake. I picked out one of those business card size samples at Lowes and thought I loved it. Ordered the bigger size from Formica... and absolutely hated it. Looked like mud compared to the little size, I would have been heart broken, truly.. or at least terribly, terribly disappointed.

I received numerous 5x7 samples of Formica w/o charge. I could only order four at a time. The link I used was Formica Laminate Swatches - Samples. The problem with this method is that you need some time to ensure you get them. Donna's may be a better option if you want them quickly.

What I did was order more samples, up to the limit fairly soon after ordering the first batch. They shipped them together even. But yeah, those larger size samples were great! There were some that looked half way decent at their site or in the brochure I got from Lowe's, but in person - ick!

If you really like something, you can order multiples of the same and lay them out for an even better idea of how they'll look in the trailer. And if you go to the factory, lay 'em out so you can see how they look with the cabinet color. I hauled up one yard of our fabric, the countertop sample and the flooring sample to see how they looked against the cabinets. Winners all around!

Now I'm going through samples of the Bali blinds that I just got and ordered more. (We're going to install them ourselves after we get The Trailer.) I realized I can have different colors in each "room" of the trailer! Yay!

We just went to the local building supply store and looked at full sized sheets of Formica. Picked our favorite there and placed the order with ETI.

In this vein, should the local store not have full sheets in stock, most major cities will have a warehouse they can direct you to for viewing them. We have done that with customers in the past.

We followed Donna's advice on the sample size. It was very helpful as we made our choices

If going custom, make sure you get samples. The fabric especially as several we thought we're it, were discarded quickly when the samples arrived. Both the fabric and Formica ended up being different choices when the samples hit. The flooring we were good on when the sample came, but some of the flooring samples surprised us.
