Finally Got It Home

Well after a "quick" 3000+ mile trip to So. Cal. and back I now have the escape in the driveway. Me and another new owner had our trailers delivered to her house and we received them last Sunday afternoon.

The trip: I tow with a Tacoma and overall the combination worked very well. I did order the WDH but did not hook it up for the trip. At first I was a bit nervous with the no WD or sway control but I was very impressed with the towablility of the combination. I will now work on installing the WDH. The tailwind all the way home certainly helped my MPGs and I averaged in the low 15s for the return trip.

The trailer: Overall I am very pleased with the trailer. Everything was as ordered and the interior "feel" is really nice. The space seems just right. Only a couple of "issues" 1) construction debris in cabinets, etc. (seems no one vacuums after the construction process) and my inside mounted water tank valve is so close to the floor it is extremely difficult to open/close (already have an idea on how to fix that).

So tomorrow I am going to the scales to check the real weight, then begin the process of getting it ready to go somewhere!

Can't wait to get it out.

Steve

Enjoy your new trailer. After construction and the delivery some hidden dust appears. I enjoy camping in my 19.6 Escape.

Re: Finally Got It Home

Congrats & welcome back, Steve. Nice fuel economy - Did you rig up a small sail on top of the trailer to take full advantage of the tailwind?

New Orleans & Jazz Fest sounds like a fun inaugural trip. We'll be making our annual trek to Driftwood, TX for a week of camping at the Old Settlers Music Festival around that time. We're also considering joining some friends of ours who'll be camping in Blanco in mid May for the Real Ale Brewing Company's annual bike ride event which meanders thru the surrounding hill country & ends at the brewery for beer & bbq.

Re: Finally Got It Home

Very nice trailer, Steve!

You have insulation, right? I will be interested in your weight when you get it.

Bet you are happy to get that Escape home!!

Re: Finally Got It Home

Brad-I have seen some information on the Blanco festival, may have to look into that. Cycling and beer is what I do best!!!

Cathy: yes I do have the insulation. I did weigh today and my total was 3040 lbs including tongue weight (will post separately on this).

Gocamp: my trailer got to ride the other was towed.

Yahoo Steve. So glad you finally got it. Looking forward to seeing it. It's so much fun to see the individual interiors. See you at Bluebonnet.

Re: Finally Got It Home

Steve, finally! Congrats on a great looking trailer. You are going to love it.

But, today is February 23. You're not really going to wait until April for the first trip, are you? Hitch that thing up and hit the road.

Re: Finally Got It Home

Hi Marv,
Well unfortunately we may have to wait. We are dog sitting for 3 weeks and I am not comfortable taking our "friend" out with us. Actually Bluebonnet will be first then NO the next week.

Re: Finally Got It Home

Finally got signed up...

I do think that was an impressive sight with those trailers coming down the street...

Pulling mine out today and putting her back up on driveway - give the interior a good scrub today and learn all about the water system (that's the goal anyway).
