Love the cabana look--how very clever! Thanks for posting.
I blew the pic up but couldn't tell--are those just regular shower rod hooks you've used?

Wine Tour
The wine tours are fun , everyone's favourite entertainer , pot luck - oh so much good food ! It seems one meets the nicest people at a Rally !

Closer to the Lake
After the Rally we did move closer to the Lake , there was one Escape 17 just below us , only ones left . Unfortunately there was a brush fire up the hill above the Cultural Centre . Spent some time watching at least three planes and a helicopter .

On to Radium
After leaving Osoyoos drove to Radium to enjoy the hot springs . Left a day earlier than planned because of weather issues and the possibility of not getting home much later than planned due to potential highway closures . Rather than taking Trans Canada we rerouted through the Crowsnest . We were lucky !

At Radium
Surprises us when we meet people who camp at Radium , but aren't familiar with Redstreak , the sites are spacious and well treed - plus the neighbours are interesting .

We discovered Redstreak last Sept when we were camping at Dry Gulch provincial campsite just down the road a bit. Was pleasantly surprised by what Redstreak campsite had to offer. It is now on our list of sites to visit.
While at Dry Gulch I saw a flock of 10 wild black turkeys walk through the camp site one morning. Something else that I never realized the Kootenays had.

Nice , maybe we'll see you sometime !
Dry Gulch is also really nice , haven't camped there but have been there . We didn't know that there where wild turkeys either , think we need to have another look . In 2011 we came across this young fellow at Redstreak .

I would like to see a Grizzly but at a distance. How far away was the bear and what focal length was the lens you used?
Thanks for the great pics,
John

Wow is all I can say! I don't know how I would react seeing one of those thus near! Certainly I would get goose bumps!!!! Here in Wisconsin my guy just saw a Cougar this winter, but it is a rare event. And apparently there are no bears in the area where we are.

Hi Jrn56 , the photo below was actually the first shot at which point the grizzly was possibly 30 ft away from us . We were in a jeep having just returned from the Radium Hot Springs Aquacourt enroute to our campsite . The next two shots he was making his way up the hill ever so slowly and that might have been 50 ft away . This was the beginning of June , a time when one is likely to see quite a few bears ( usually black bears ) in the Kootenay Park just not usually at the campground . The camera was a Lumix DMC-TZ1 10x zoom -pretty much point and shot .
Thanks to all for the comments .... fun to share pix

Those big cats can be more dangerous than the bears , they always think of you as lunch !

OK, if we're posting road-side bear pictures I have to dig out one of my favourites from a few years ago. This was along the ice fields parkway -- not sure if we were in Jasper or Banff at this point.
I've never been lucky enough to see a cougar in the wild... Or a lynx... One day...
