Know what you mean Alf. Our drive has been awfully empty since we sold Hokie de Casita, but HokieEscape will fill the bill.
We spent the night in Mt Vernon, about an hour from Chilliwack, and today is Christmas Day! Fill you in later

Yes we did! And it's actually a very nice park. The lady who checked us in was REALLY nice, and gave us a pull through, so I didn't have to unhook, which with our tiredness level, was greatly appriciated.
However, despite the nice distance from Escape Trailers, it wasn't a nice distance from I-5, so you hear the big Semi's going by all night. Other than that though, it was lovely.
A few other things I might pass along:
  • We sleep on a Memory Foam mattress at home, and the mattress on the 5.0 isn't quite there. So, we stopped today and got a 1.5" toper, its great!
    • Definitely have breakfast at Cookies Grill before you leave!!!!! Tammy will tell you how to get there. Yummmmmm
The border station is named Sumas on one side, but not the Canadian side. When returning, and the sign on I-5 says Border Crossing, but says Canadian Rt 11 (not 9 as in Sumas), take it!!!

Have a great trip! I know many will continue to enjoy the blog. What is that white stuff on the ground? Since my lilacs, azaleas, freesias and more are blooming, I thought it was spring everywhere.

We just got a couple inches of snow over night. It sure makes things look beautiful. There is stillsnow forecast throughout the next week. Blooming and budding are still near a month out here.

Re: HokieEscape Escapes

Hokie, not every highway around here is I-5. The freeway that kept you awake is Highway 1, the Trans-Canada. And the road you took to cross into the US is over 20 miles from I-5, athough you can get to Canada on I-5 too.

But you are tired. I am just correcting you so that people without the local knowledge won't be confused.

Yes to both of those!!! I was tired, and it was the Trans-Canada Highway 1, not I-5. And it is Canadian Rt 11 that leads to the Border Crossing, while in the US (Sumas) it is US Route 9. Thanks, I don't want to get any lost : - )

Re: HokieEscape Escapes

One of the fun things about being in our new Escape, is looking around and seeing some things that I'd wondered about before we picked up HokieEscape. Like for instance, the blinds. What do they look like, how do they work. We had dangling venetian blinds in the Casita, that didn't work very well! So here's how these look: The shades just slide up and down by cords wrapped around those lower corner posts. And they are smooth! Talking about an upgrade, and it's standard (for all you who are trying to decide "Escape vs. ______".)
Now one thing that we had put on HokieEscape, that's not standard, is the stainless backsplash in the kitchen, but we love it! [img][/img]
(I hope these pictures come out, you don't actually see them when composing) The magnetic paper towel holder was ordered (found in another thread, by Sandra I think). As you can see, it holds a couple of dish towels too. The canister's come from Wally World, and were a Tammy recommendation. I found the small drain board, which fits perfectly in the sink, under the sink topper (while traveling) at Wally World too. As you can see, when you use the sink topper on the counter extension, it raises the drain to the perfect height. Of course, my wife prefers the "let's eat out" method of keeping dishes clean, but, just in case......
One other hint for newbies, put a rubber band or remove your TP and paper towels before you travel, or they may be in one long ribbon when you get to your destination : - )

Re: HokieEscape Escapes

Hi: HokieEscape... That's one purdy trailer inside!!! Starting to look like home too. One trick to stop the TP ribbons is to "Squish" the roller tube before you install it. Being oval instead of round prevents it from unravelling too far!!! Contrary to Mr.Whipples quip "Don't squeeze the Charmin".
