I believe with the extra insulation they cover the entire trailer with the silver bubble insulation. This is a photo from our trailer in production with the extra insulation.

Looks just like John & Brenda's. About 3-4 days behind theirs. 8)

But JohnB,
page two folks are saying that the lower portion marked, extra insulation goes down to the floor. Are you saying this photo does not show the extra insulation? Thanks for the clarification.

I think JohnB is saying that not only does the extra insulation cover the bottom parts, but it is installed first before the upper thick vinyl covering is installed. I did not know what was behind the vinyl nor what is standard insulation, I'm only familiar with extra option which I thought continued where the vinyl covering ended. The factory may be able to clear up whether the extra insulation option includes a base layer of the silver before the vinyl is installed. I can now see that the reflectix is between the 2 shells in the bathroom if you look where the bath window is cut out you can see it. Seems like a good option.

We had the extra insulation installed. This photo was taken by Escape before they finished the install. It did eventually go to the floor. I thought the photo would help to clarify where the extra went but maybe I have just added to the confusion?

Not sure why there is a joint in the silver where shown in my photo. Perhaps that is the width of the roll that takes it down to the level shown?

My assumption on extra insulation was that it is a layer of the silver completely covering entire fiberglass surface. My assumption was that the basic insulation is provided by the vinyl finish by itself. I could be wrong and I guess I should have asked that specific question to clarify. One of the problems with making assumptions!

From the Escape web site the following is copied from the "Points to Ponder" section under the tab "The Escape".

"The headliner is a smooth, durable, soft-touch vinyl laminated onto 3/8” foam creating an R5 insulation value. This headliner is fire-rated and easily cleaned."

From that statement I made the assumption that the basic insulation is the vinyl itself and the extra is the silver bubble insulation and it is a layer that covers the entire trailer.

Hopefully someone who has asked the question will come in and clarify what 'EXTRA' and "BASIC" means?

And then we can get rid of the mud!

This is correct, the vinyl covered foam is standard. The layer of reflectix is the extra layer of insulation. When they did mine, they just used an extra layer of foam, but have since changed methods.

If the vinyl covered foam is standard, when we see any build progress photo's posted that show reflectix we can automatically assume those builds ordered the extra insulation option. Do I have it correct? I am talking recent new build photos not archived photos.Thanks.

Tom and Cheryl, it looks fantastic. Are they delivering right to your house?
Yours also, gharper.

Know you and John and Brenda will enjoy your Escapes. They look amazingly like ours but a step inside an Escape would show them all to be different. Different refrigerators, maybe an oven, sometimes an unusual cushion set-up, various counter and fabric designs and graphics colors. It would always be interesting to see someone else's for those personalizations people come up with and the other changes that Escape makes each year. I think we need a new 19' some time!

Our 15 delivered in April 2013 only has the vinyl where it shows and Refectx in the cupboard areas. If you look up inside a cupboard you can see the mounting strips and the vinyl cut away to fit around it. No Reflectix behind it unless this has changed VERY recently.

Our escape may be 3-4 days ahead of you in construction but you will be getting yours before us. . We have our orientation scheduled for September 6th and then a two week trip through the Canadian Rockies. Originally we were going to get it delivered and it would have been on the same truck. We were lucky that we could arrange enough time off to make this trip possible. Maybe we will meet you at a rally someday.

[QUOTE=Jrn56;30374]. We have our orientation scheduled for September 6th and then a two week trip through the Canadian Rockies. /QUOTE]

That will be a great time to tour the Canadian Rockies. The weather is generally very good, the crowds have gone with school back in session and the mosquitoes should be gone for the season. Leaves may be starting to changing color.

We have spent parts of Sept. in the Kanakasis/Rockies area for the past two years. One tenting and one with our trailer. we had a great time on both occasions.

Enjoy your new trailer and your trip home with it.
