Hi: reeves99...The last time we used a Wallo Ma t lot for a lunch stop the trailer was surrounded by lookerzon before the butter was on the bread. I never get to eat my sandwich in peace!!! Oh well...I guess thats part of the price you pay to own an Escape. Alf

Re: Sooner or later we all go there...

We intend on spending the night at WalMart in Bellingham the Nov long weekend. It'll be very easy and we know we'll be surrounded by many others...

I get off work at 2315 and will cross the border and then head there to sleep. Do not want to cross the border the next morning with the hordes..

Last trip of the year to Cape Lookout in Oregon...

We spent the (Canadian) Thanksgiving weekend in the Bellingham Walmart parking lot. It was not too busy - maybe 10 RVers in the lot and a few people sleeping in cars.

If you get the spot in the south western corner of the parking lot (nearest the stoplight on Meridian) you can get coffee at Woods Coffee across the street and then use their WiFi in your trailer for the rest of the day including Netflix for evening entertainment.

Re: Sooner or later we all go there...

When we come out of the Yukon and time is tight to park for the night we went to Wal-Mart.

It is called urban camping I think.

In the Yukon there is only one Wal-Mart and it is very busy in the summer.

My last camping trip was out in the boonies, It took me 5 hours to drive 130 km to get to my destination.

At the end of the run we got 2 Moose, a lot better than urban camping, I might make one more trip for Caribou..

The Walmart in Bellingham is often full of RVers - usually parked at the farthest end of the lot, alongside Meridian.
We had a new Walmart open in Port Coquitlam and the first time I shopped there, there were people at the customer
service desk asking if they could park their RV's for the night. They are allowed - their only comment is they do not provide security
so park at your own risk.

That's the nice thing about Escape trailers... they are "at home" either urban camping or moose hunting.

I got my moose (27" bull) while using my trailer as a base camp in mid-september. As I didn't get the moose close enough to the camp to get good Escape glamour pictures, it will not be in next year's Escape calendar.

Re: Sooner or later we all go there...

27 inch bull moose;

That fellow was not even out of puberty, shpould be good to eat.

I have lots of pictures but not of moose.

We had an "Argo" along so the moose I got, a small one as well 40" was pulled up to about 10 feet from the door of my escape.

Did not take a picture, didn't think it would look good on a calender.

My moose is now roasts, steaks, ground meat, stew meat, and sausage.

I also made some native dry meat for my next hunt.

Take them the way they come... The Limited Entry Hunt Authorization was for two weekends at the end of September. It was the only bull we saw. Ditto - the transformation into roasts, steaks, burger, and sausage.

Instead of an Argo, I had my wife along. At 125# she cannot pack as much moose as the Argo nor ford swamps and creeks with ease, but much more cuddly in the Escape in the evenings.

I am still trying for some cool "hunting camp" photos with the Escape. I am not deliberatly trying to annoy the "Urbanite" crowd, it just happens

Re: Sooner or later we all go there...

We do not have limited hunts on moose in the Yukon, each hunter is allowed one bull.
A 27 inch moose is the best to eat, I do not hunt for trophies, I hunt for meet

I belong to P.E.T.A. (People Enjoying Tasty Animals).

We took out two moose, did not have time for the third one for our group.

I understand there were six moose taken with in a few miles of our hunt.

I understand one moose taken measured in at 74" The record locally is I understand 86".

There are a few places where hunting is not allowed or restricted.

The snow is starting to fly up here but the temperatures are still pretty good (Minus 10C).

I may go for Caribou in a week or so, we are allowed two each of them.

My moose was closer to the 86" mark if measured from nose to tail

Sorry, no pictures of moose and Escape trailer in the same shot.
