Screw caps came off!

Thanks Donna for the suggestion on using the flat part of a table knife. I got two of them off, just to see if I could. I'll take the rest off later and put on a different color. After this weekend. But, I'm happy to know I can take them off without gouging the back splash.

Heck, I might need more colors (although I have a bunch already in different colors as I didn't know what I'd want). Someone commented long time ago there's a lot of them in the trailer and I was only planning on replacing the ones in the kitchen area. But, there's a bunch on the cubby bins and elsewhere. Fun!

In the photo you can also see a line of what looks like water along the back edge. Well, it's not! It's some sort of sealant they used that's shiny and it really looks like water back there against the matte countertop. And it's crooked! Ack! Too bad they didn't use matte sealant (if it exists, heck if I know).

Another thing I figured out I'm gonna do. I'm going to cover the filler boards with black paint as I have a ton of that that I'm using for something I'm using at the bazaar and I'll never need the entire gallon. It's matte and will work just fine on the boards. And maybe even the backside of the flip-up tables! So, yay for me being cheap (oh wait, frugal!) and getting a gallon of it at Fred Meyer instead of a smaller can from Lowe's (and costing more as this paint was pretty cheap).

Ooo, maybe even paint the tops of the dinette area plywood. Has anyone done that? Any problems down the road with that?

One thing worth mentioning on the Select Comfort, Sleep Number beds - watch altitude changes. Some beds have been damaged by the changes in air pressure as you move from lower to higher altitudes. Not a problem for them in homes, but is can be for RVs...

And who thought your bed could have a problem with altitude? LOL

I think that if I had a mattress that shape and size for a 21', I would slide the mattress to the foot of the bed and put a foam filler piece at the head (or maybe have some large wedge shaped pillows made that could be used for sitting up against for reading). I would then construct a square corner for the front bed frame corner. The corner could easily be made to look the same as the rest of the woodwork and could be easily removable if you ever went back to a mattress with the stock shape.

If you're gonna have an ear worm stuck in your head, you could do a lot worse.

Hi Donna~
Is there a tool that may do that or maybe taking it to a machine/welding shop? I used mine on our Scamp-it had 14" tires-didn't think it wouldn't work on the 5.0TA. (the box does say: for 13" 14" & some 15")
I was wondering what the size of the drill is that you use on the levelers.
Thanks,
Judy

You can use any jack to push the arms apart. There was even a post on the CasitaClub forum where a fella stood on one end and pulled up on the other to spread the arms. I wouldn't have strength to do that, but can use a bottle jack!

I just use lego blocks to level, but I have a single axle. My buddy ( 19' ) uses 2" X 8" boards cut for the purpose. No power drills required. Don't have to spread 'em.

The Bal levelers seem to require a lot of work to make leveling "easy".

I used the "lego" blocks on our 17 and ordered another set so I'll have enough of them for our 21. Simple, lightweight and also work as jack pads when needed.

When I had a fold down we used wooden blocks for all leveling. We would take plenty of untreated pieces of pine. On the last night we were out, any unused pieces were burned in the campfire. As the coals cooled one of the kids used to get to say, "I declare this camp closed". They still talk about that. The Boy Scouts did it too before extinguishing the
fire. Then they retrieved a piece of charcoal the next morning from the ashes and kept it till the next fire where it was added as tinder to symbolically continue the brotherhood that fire helped cement. Heavy stuff.

Sounds like a great tradition. Might have to incorporate it into our campfire routine.

That's a beautiful sentiment Dave.
Wouldn't have worked for my troupe. We took turns trying to extinguish the fire, if you know what I mean. After that I don't imagine anyone would've picked up the burned wood.

Hi Jim
The meanest thing I ever did to the Scouts was to tell them that under no circumstances were they allowed to pee on an electric fence that surrounded the horse pasture at Scout camp.
Without further explanation, I walked away.

Apparently, as kids, my mother and her twin sister would climb up on a chicken roost and see who could pee the furthest.
