Re: Tick - Tock

the newer 19' come with 2 sets of the overhead lights factory installed, one over bed and one midships. If you want one more forward for a total of 3 ask Reace to install them for you. I believe Jim's 19 only had one set of the overheads so that is why he installed the extra set.

Re: Tick - Tock

Have not yet put our build list into Escape but current plan is to go with the front storage box, but with the 6V batteries under the front dinette rather than in the storage box. I am hoping that the front box will be a suitable location to keep loose canoeing gear (life jackets, throw bags, air bags, etc) when we are traveling, so that it will give me more room in the TV. We will also be going with the additional lights on the rear of the trailer for when we carry bikes.

I say skip the front box, as there is a ton of storage, but as you can see, folks differ on this.
But do the lights, I just retrofit a set on myself after the fact, as we are taking off Friday with bikes.
Lots of good reading on here which will just about cover all the options available.

Enjoy the planning.
Jim, adding the lights is something I am planning on. When you installed yours, how big did you drill the hole for the wires? Which way did you fish the wires, and finally, what did you use for a sealant?
Just to be clear .... I am referring to tail lights. We don't have any overhead lights in ours, and while they would be a "nice to have", we get by just fine with the interior lighting we have. No plans to add any more interior lights at this time.

I drilled 3 holes per light, two were for the screws, which also when into the cabinet framing, and the third for the wires was just big enough for the three wires. I used silicone on the holes, plus put some on the screw threads, and a generous amount on the light itself around the wires. No chance for leaking there.

Right now I have no lights mounted on the ceiling. With lights in all the upper cabinets, we find the only place we need one at all would be over the dinette. It is not too bad now, but more light would always be better.

Jim you have made me really curious. I was planning on installing the tail lights vertically beside the back window (as seen on other installations) but that won't put any of the screw holes near the cabinet framing. I am thinking you must have mounted yours higher?? If so, do you have a picture?

Re: Tick - Tock

I mounted my lights horizontally above the rear window. I had at first thought I would go vertically beside, but that would have been too much of a hassle, both running the wires, and mounting the lights.

Here is a quick cell snap. Please excuse the 5,000 km of road grunge on the trailer, I never got around to washing it yesterday.

Time change coming up this weekend. Looks like we will have to wait an hour more than planned before we can pick up our new Escape 19 in April.
