Two Escapes

We're on our maiden voyage, traveling from Portland, Oregon to Napa, California when we ran across another Escape here in the campground in Napa. This guy knew he wanted an Escape, but apparently got on the wrong website.

Jim and Robin,

Did you go over the Siskiyou Mts. or go out to the coast to go to Napa? Just wondered how the 15 towed? How was your first trip mileage?

Tim: We drove I-5 down to Napa and will take 101 from Napa to Crescent City and then back to PDX via I-5. Going over the pass went better than expected, driving at around 50 mph up the rise most of the time. Mileage has been OK at about 15 mpg. Our first trip out has been trouble free, although I did call Dave at Escape Industries twice. We got our orientation in Dec and the old brain forgot a few things.

The Liberty tows very smoothly. The V6 is plenty of power. The WDH with the short wheel base also seems to work well--no sway or pulling in odd directions.

To quote a line from old time TV

"Missed It By That Much"

As the owner was trying to tell you about the merits of the other Escape you could have demanded " Cone of Silence"

In about ten years he won't be able to give his away and you'll still own a valuable asset.

If you Google the other trailer you find some bad stories about the Cikirarv.com brand with respect to water problems and the floors and walls rotting out in some models less than 2 years old. It appears that the manufacturer may have gone bankrupt! in 2011??

Glad I bought the fiberglass ESCAPE from Chilliwack

Actually, the picture shows a Spree Escape made by KV industries. It has aluminum structured walls with rigid insulation walls and a filon glass exterior. It is on a spring axle frame and KV is very much in business. We looked hard at this other Escape, which we believe is a good value for the money but opted for our 15 for many reasons. It is not in the same category as Escape Trailer Industries but you could buy one of these, use it up, buy another one and still not spend what we did on our 15. To each his own but the Spree Escape would be a good choice for many people.

Thanks for correcting the error I made after I came up with the Cikira brand when I did my Google search. Good thing I had indicated that my comments were bassed on the Cikira so no one would be confused with the KV Spree.

Glad for those owners that they had the KV Spree. Aluminum structure sounds good.

I Goggled KV Industries and did not come up with a travel trailer manufacturer? There was a KZ Industries that had a Spree Escape model trailer, looks nice.

I can see the Spree in the posted photo now that I have seen it on the manufacturers web site.

Yes, KZ. Sorry about that. I get those letters near the end of the alphabet mixed up sometimes.

We're staying at the RV Park at the Expo Center in Napa--about a five or 10 minute drive to downtown. It's nice; we've been pleased. $45 a night with Good Sam membership. We drove into Tiburon this morning and took the ferry over to Pier 39 for some excitement.
