I hope this is not considered thread drift but here's an enjoyable story. In 1968, the year before I worked for the Forest Service on the Selway ranger district, Nez Perce National Forest, a California hunter came into the Ranger station ( the historic Fenn Ranger Station) with a tagged elk. Problem was the animal was a Moose. However, this guy had a moose tag too and the guys at the station chose to overlook the violation of an improperly tagged animal. They got the right tag on the animal and the hunter went on his way back to California a proud and happy man. True story. Of course now it's hard to even get a non resident Elk or moose tag with experience points etc etc.
