A/C Model Number
For registration purposes, does anyone know the model number of the Dometic A/C ETI installs with the digital thermostat option. ETI tells me that the model number is 640312C851C0, and that is what is on the sheet inside the wardrobe. Only problem is that Dometic has told me that this is NOT a valid model number, and the number ETI provides is not on the Dometic website. At least, I cannot find it. Thanks if anyone knows!

I had the same problem, and I called Dometic and they registered me with the number I gave even if it wasn't on their system. Their web site also said that my refrigerator serial number didn't go with my model number, even though I read both directly off the plate in the back of the fridge. She also registered this.

Should be the Penguin model 640312C85x. The last few numbers mean something but I think it's related to the Tecumseh Compressor. Dometic model numbers are a bunch of gibberish.

I tried calling them and the representative told me I needed the correct model number. I then tried online registration and was told by the website that the model number I supplied was not a valid model number. In other words, I am caught between a rock and a hard place. I'm beginning to think Dometic is not very "supportive" of those customers who call customer support.

Here's another snip from Eldon RV. The model number they use for the Dometic Penguin II Low Profile 11K BTU (as well as several other distributors) is 640310CXX1C0. They also show model numbers for the heat strips, the digital thermostats, and the ceiling assemblies. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Robert. That number was finally accepted. Now I'm going to try to register the refrigerator. Hope that's not a hassle. I've been speaking with another 5.0TA owner who is having a problem with his new two door model staying cool. I am still in the northern climes so I don't know if I will have the same problem. The door ajar alarm did, however, go off on our first night. It was also the first night of the rally so Reace looked at it but it had stopped beeping after I manipulated the latch a few times.

It seems that not much has changed in the last two years. I just ran into the same problem.
The Air Conditioner model number listed on the placard in my closet is 640312C851C0. The Dometic web site rejected this as invalid.
I called ETI, and was told the correct model number is 640310C451C0. I was also told how to see the A/C nameplate inside the filter access panel, and the MFG# there matched this number.
The Dometic web site rejected this number too.
I called Dometic customer service at 800-544-4881 and got a human being within 15 seconds. She said her system didn't like the number either, so she bypassed it. She took my information and told me I am registered.
She also told me that registering allows me to purchase an extended warranty if I want to. There is no option for an extended warranty on the awning, so no warranty registration is available for it. I can register the refrigerator though, and I will try that next.

Reviving an old thread: We have the same A/C atop our 15A (Dometic MFG# 640312C851C0) and trying to determine if its a Penguin or Penguin ll. Anyone know?
We're going to sell it and want to relay the correct model name and BTU output.

If it is Penguin !! then it would be the 9200 btu unit they first placed in the E19. That is what I had in my 2012 Escape.

Here's the chart, looks like 11k, like mine. I consider mine a Penguin II but you'll be safe if you just call it a Penguin.

I do not think they would install a 11,000 BTU in an Escape 15? Your build sheet would tell you some info?
