You sure do have a beautiful 5.0. We get our 5.0 in August. I took a look at your pictures and got some great ideas. In particular, I liked the storage box on the back. Where did you get that? Does ETI sell those or did you get it some place else? The green lettering is the color I picked out and love it. My wife looked at the pictures and liked the shelves, DVD storage, etc. Nice touches.

I couldn't find the weight of the unit itself.
Looks like you could put enough stuff in there to lift the tow vehicle off the ground.
I presume that one swings away so you can access the spare?

On our 5.0 Classic we have relocated the spare tire to underneath the trailer which you can view in the Shutterfly pics. Our cargo box is the larger size and rides in the hitch. There is sufficient clearance between the lid of the box and the trailer for the lid to open fully.

I looked at the photos to see the cargo box and didn't even notice that the spare wasn't on the back! Obviously I had not read the mods list carefully. That's a slick modification, and good for mass (weight) distribution and therefore stability.

I see the photo showing the spare under the front; how much clearance is there from the spare rack to the ground?

The clearance is 9.25". We have never experienced a crunch on a curb or speed bump.

I saw your ad at 2012 Escape 5.0 Classic For Sale | near Auburn, WA | Fiberglass RV's For Sale and though having viewed your trailer pics and read the mods, I had not noticed all the details of Steve's fine craftsmanship and the conveniences he has added. I would love to see his ideas and workmanship when he gets his hands on the new 5.0 TA.

If I remember correctly, you are picking up your new 5.0TA this week. Maybe I can get Steve to show me some of his craftsmanship skills as he makes the mods to it. The interest in your 5.0 Classic should pop as the camping season is upon us...I'm sure you can't wait for the maiden voyage in the TA!

What is the Dry hitch weight for a 5.0 ? I can find it for a new 5.0 TA but not the older model.
I have a Tacoma and checking if it will tow your trailer.

Towing the 5.0 Classic with a Tundra shouldn't be a problem. That is one of the beauties of the Escape 5th wheel - it can be towed with smaller trucks. Dirk, if there are any other questions you have, just let me know.

And thanks, Donna, for posting the answer to Dirk's question.

Tundra? Dirk has a Tacoma. Both Toyotas - different sizes.
