Got experience with a Honda 2000 with a 5.0TA. Do you have specific questions?

Works fine with our 2014 - 21.

Generator

Thanks for the responses. I use a honda 2000 on my power boat to plug into the 30 amp power outlet. Can run small appliances or lights. In addition I get a limited charge off it for my battery bank. Could I use it in a similar application on the escape. Ie. What are your specific uses? I have lots of marine experience but no trailer experience.

We use it for AC, microwave, and coffeepot if needed when boondocking; lives in the bed of the truck. Don't always take it along with us.

When dry camping we charge our two deep cycle batteries on our Escape 21 every few days because we need to charge the battery for our Minn Kota boat motor that often. At the same time we charge camera batteries, walkie-talkies, and iPad. A 3-4 hour charge brings the batteries up to about 75% or more. We plan on using the generator to run the AC if it's really hot when dry camping, but Reace told us to turn the battery switch to off before doing this or the Honda 2000i wouldn't be able to run the AC.

Though it hasn't happened since 2003, we lose power after tropical storms in Florida. I used my Honda to run the A/C in an Aliner which we slept in so we could stay cool; four nights after Hurricane Francis and three after Hurricane Jean. The wind will put limbs or trees on power lines. I plan to do the same with the Escape.

Our Honda 2000i saved the day last month during a 52 hour power outage (major storm). Our kids and grandkids stayed over for some of the time and we were able to run some of our kitchen appliances and keep our deep freezer's contents frozen. The prediction of increased severity of storms with global warming makes a generator a good insurance policy. Oh, and we used the Escape's oven and fridge as well.
