Wanted: 19' Escape

Its a little early in the season, but I thought I'd cast my line out and see if anyone's upgrading to the 21 or 5.0. We're ready for the 19' and might be willing to travel a little to find one. We've got flowers shooting up, so I'm assuming that spring might be just around the corner for most of you. Its time to think about digging your 19' out of the snow bank and giving me a call.

Dave, you know you're in the only corner of the only province in Canada that is anywhere near spring, right? Even those in the U.S. northeast must have trouble seeing spring coming anytime soon.

Good time to start planning, though...

Thanks Donna, I think Brian and others in Edmonton need a little humour to get through this season. The last time I was in Edmonton it was -55 Celsius and too cold for the de-icing equipment at the airport to work. The west coast rains will start soon enough and then everyone east of coast will smile smugly while those of us without Escapes are pitching tarps and repairing rotting stickies (yeah I got the lingo down, pretty good for a newbie).

It's been pouring in Portland, OR the last several days. HORRIBLE winds.. like gusts 50-60 mph. Blew my driveway gate down

. But, our mountain is finally getting SNOW

Thanks - humour is always good!

I think it's the people getting ice storms and losing power that really need a break - cold is annoying but not a real problem.

Nice timing. We always find it amusing when people come to visit when it is coldest here - not good for tourism, but good for a laugh.

It was actually warm here today (+3°C), and I had the sunroof open in the car (only takes barely-above-freezing here - saw some guys out in a Miata with the top down yesterday... everything's relative). It's not the current temperature that gets annoying on days like this - it's knowing that there's a couple months of winter and lower temperatures still ahead.

Hey, this isn't the weather thread... who has a 19' for sale?

I'm new to the forum and might not check every day. I'm also interested in a 19.

At least I'm only a day's drive from there, and could at least give a report, if I don't actually buy it.

Well I solved my Escape problem by urgently ordering a new 19' before all the 2014 dates disappeared. I think I got one of the last dates. Now I understand all the Build Sheet angst. There are too many choices and too few dollars and then I'll take delivery at the end of Dec. Is a little global warming too much to ask for?

...but I've got most of the year to plan.

I've been in the 21 once, but I wasn't there to check it out. I was there to move pictures from my computer to Tammy's at the Escape Rally for potential publication in a magazine. I was under self-induced stress as a retired photographer. I didn't look at it as a potential owner, but I've had dinner in my buddy's 19, steaks and corn on the cob and a few beers at the four-person dinette in the front.
The 19 has a permanent bed in the back and a four person table in the front and around 4" more aisle space in the middle than my 17B. My impression (under stress remember) is that the 21 had terrific counter space, a huge high tech fridge, but that I felt more closed in.
So, what it comes down to is that I had fond memories of relaxing with a glass of port after dinner in the 19 and I was stressed about getting pictures to a magazine in the 21.
Perfectly useless information, if you ask me.

We really wanted a small lightweight fiberglass trailer. We looked at several options, but my 6'1" husband did not fit. The 19' Escape was the smallest trailer where my husband could stand up straight.

Congrats on the order. There was no option to view before I did any planning, as it was not even in production at the time (I have the #6 19). I did go to the factory to meet Reace and Tammy, and finalize some details though.

I too am one who prefers the 19 over the 21. I get what I consider a prefered layout, as I like the bed away from the doorway. Don't get me wrong, the 21 is a great trailer, but for the extra size, both in width and length, the only thing advantageous to me is more counter space, and we do just fine in the 19. If weather is at all half decent, we prefer to prep and cook outside. Besides, the table makes for hand counter space while prepping if needed too.

Now ask me if I had to choose between the 19 and 5.0TA. Though quite different beasts, I really like both.

The 19's bed is also what sealed my choice. Being 6 ft 7 the 21's bed position quickly got my attention. But then learned it's not as wide as the 19's. Since my backyard spot is also tough to back into the 19 footer pushes me to the limit.

I'll always prefer big over small but one day I might no longer have a pickup and wanted the flexibility of pulling with a smaller vehicle. Originally wanted the 17B but we're actually thinking of letting our son borrow it. He's 6'-5" and the extra space helps. That and I like the idea of a fixed larger bed.
