I went looking for info on what you can import into Canada. There is a section on what Canadians can bring back. Can't find similar for what an American can bring, but I expect it is same.

And then I found this, so I guess you have to leave your mattress behind:

You cannot import used or second-hand mattresses into Canada unless you have a certificate verifying that the mattresses have been cleaned and fumigated in the country of export. A letter, or any other document that clearly demonstrates that this requirement has been met, is acceptable if it is signed by a person qualified in cleaning and fumigation.

Guess they never thought about the millions of RVs that travel back and forth.

Glenn, I think the important word is "import," that usually means some sort of commercial venture and an exchange of monies. No one is buying Ten Forward!

I think by "import" they mean bring in and leave here, in contrast to just passing through. You can't import a vehicle without going through a bunch of processes, but you can drive it in, tour around, and drive it back out.

The mattress in Ten Forward is full of air. If they want OLD air in Canada... I can deflate my bed.

Yeah, that's a sore point for my wife. We arrived by boat to a US check in location. Any vegetables etc. on board they asked. Yes, my wife said but they're Idaho potatoes. Doesn't matter they said, they're not in their original bag (we carried them in a suspended bin) so they have to be dumped in our garbage can. So my wife, fuming, dumped her 5 lbs. of Idaho potatoes

But generally we've taken lots of food, over many years, without incident. But it does require checking the list of what's allowed to avoid incidents.

Alas, we are forced to cancel our reservation due to an unexpected work conflict. Bummer! Sorry we won't be there to provide the pulled pork sliders for the pot luck dinner. Hope you all have a wonderful time -- we'll try again next year!
