Unhappy No full sites left.

Hi! As usual, I'm late on these things. I had just found out about the rally a few days ago and tried to rent a trailer in order to participate. Only, judging from the fisherman's corner campground website, all of the full power sites are taken.
Has anyone been there before who could comment on the tent sites ?

Are they in a good, safe location? They do appear to be near the bathroom facilities, however. What about critters to be on the lookout for?
I'm just wondering if I can tolerate sleeping on the ground or on a cot in a tent, given my darned muscles and the night time cooling (weather) as well.

Does anyone know if they allow tent sites to have campfires? I'd like to be able to cook up some beans or a can of soup at least! And, I must have my morning Java....

Please excuse the questions....it's been over a decade since I've tent- camped. Also, we haven't camped anywhere near this part of the country before...

I am still trying to get there so I can tour all of these marvelous Escapes! Can't wait! If necessary, I will make a day trip of it. Thanks all!

About a mile down the road is the illiniwek camp ground run by the forest preserve district down there. They have a lot of nice sites, I'd suggest you give them a call yet today to see what they have for this weekend. It would only be a couple of minutes from fishermans corner. There's a great big handicap site at fishermans corner too. I'm not sure if it's reservable or shows on the map. You could call them too to learn more. Best of luck

Fishermans Corner

The corps sites have fire rings at every site I believe. It's not too far into town to get wood. Not sure if they sell wood at the site but think maybe they do. I'm sure someone there will loan you some camp stove time if you ask.

The area is very nice, I would judge it to be
Very safe on a scale of 1 to 10 I'd give it a 9
Or 10. Camp hosts on site close to everyone. No dangerous critters in that area to amount to anything. No poisonous snakes either. Bugs not bad In This country at the time as it has been dry. This is a nice campground with adequate light,'good paths and roads and accessible restroom and shower. We looked it over earlier this summer.

In checking at Federal recreation, camping and tour reservation information - Recreation.gov I see available campsites for either Friday or Saturday night. I believe there were sites for both nights, meaning the same site for both nights.. These are full hookups, tent sites were also in the mix.

Paul, I take it you meant to say electric hook-ups.
I had seen a couple of sites available in the second loop and Dave has mentioned the other campground down the road.

You are correct Cathy, full hookups at Fisherman's Corner are electric only, unless you happen to be close to one of the water connectors that are located on the inner portions of each loop. There are several in each loop and if your hose is long enough and you carry a Y connector I believe you can connect. At least I have seen it done.

Yes, saw all of those water hook-ups and will have to see if we can reach. Our Y connector became no good in no time but we can do a fill up.

Has for years, but they don't cost $4.99.

Thanks to Dave and the rest of the community for your answers and info.
We have several choices, then. The Illiniwek camp ground looks perfectly fine.
Tent sites right on the water...we can fish from there! That, plus a nice campfire, sounds sooooo relaxing. Again, I appreciate y'all helping this newbie out!

We had good experiences at both Kickapoo state park near Danville ( stayed there twice) about $30 and then off of I74 at Morraine view stat rec area last year on the way back from Niagara. Twenty dollars at moraine view, elec only at our site, nice showers. Pretty nice little grocery store in LeRoy Illinois

Hi all! Looking forward to seeing you all this weekend!

Probably should have asked sooner but.....anyone that's coming from Minnesota or through there, would you be willing to bring some Dutch Crunch BBQ potato chips? We found them during the summer of 2014 on our trek to Chilliwack, but unfortunately they don't distribute in Illinois.

I'm willing to pay you for your troubles in picking us up a few bags....thanks in advance!!!!
