You can see where they wouldn't want to board the flight until they found an airplane to use. Still, hope you got home without further delay.

Updated short range forecast is for cooler temps and more chance of liquid sunshine appearing than last year. We've had our share of cloud bursts/sustained drizzle here lately. As in wait 20 mins and the weather changes.

We really need the moisture in this part of the country, lowers the forest fire risk,.
Plus a little rain is better than the snow that is falling outside right now.

I'll take rain or shine. Just glad to get away!
As they say, a bad day of camping beats a good day of working. Or was that fishing?

They said on the news tonight that 7 of the last 16 Victoria Day long weekends in Calgary have been white. I find it an excellent weekend to stay home and off the roads!!

The Victoria Day Long Weekend is a weather lottery in western Canada. It is traditionally the first camping and outdoor event weekend of the year, but no one should make plans for it unless they are prepared to accommodate wildly varying weather.
When I first moved to Alberta I went to the Knox Mountain Hillclimb in Kelowna BC a couple of times, so it was a road trip and weekend outside - we had everything from baking in the heat to driving home in snow. Kelowna's weather was typically not an issue, but the mountain roads between here and there could be interesting.
The Edmonton International Airshow used to run every second year at Canadian Forces Base Edmonton (at Namao, when it was a real airport); the first year I lived here I attended and risked heatstroke on the pavement in the heat and sun, but that event could get snow, too.
This year in the Edmonton area we have had a weekend of rain, reminding me of Vancouver in the winter. I doubt that many people are complaining.

A fire ban that was put in place April 19 is still in effect for Strathcona County. No burning is allowed.

A fire ban remains in effect for Strathcona County as of May 20, 2016, until further notice.
Despite the recent rain, conditions remain very dry. Multiple days of rainy and cooler weather are required to have a significant impact on the overall conditions.

There are 53 fire bans currently in effect in Alberta. That may change as the effect of the current rain is assessed.
The situation today:

At least 5 inches of rain here. That's good!! For sure makes me happy! We sure needed it.
Good thing most campers have wheels: can travel wherever they want

Is there firewood for sale at the campground? Doubt one can bring their own from the US.

There's definitely firewood available in Osoyoos but I don't remember rings at the campsites, at least ours last year. Don't even bother trying to learn all the firewood rules, just don't haul any and buy locally. I get wood with a tag of origin if at all possible. Some rangers get kinda chippy on this. Wood chippy that is. That's my theory these days, especially coming from the Emerald Ash Borer Midwest.

No fire rings at the campsite in Osoyoos.
Mosquitoes are out but not a plenty, at least where I am. I remember last year there were mosquitoes up on the top spots.

Just got a 25 ft 12V extension cord so we can run our fan on top of the campsite table to keep the skeeters at bay.
No fire rings is one less item to deal with!

Don't even think about bringing even a twig across the border into the US. Yikes! And don't ask.
