No way, that is just Tammy attempting to defame my standing as an innocent, well behaved and morally sound rally attendee.

OK, right, sure. We'll see how you behave on the wine tour. I hear that your reputation precedes you...

I'm curious whether there are any serious, athletic attendees planning to attempt the Half Corked Marathon?

Hi: Leisure Lee... It'll be easy jumping hurdles in "The Half Corked Marathon" when you get to uncorking a bottle of Silver Sages ~~The Flame~~. If you like it ~~HOT~~ get the one with the red pepper still in the bottle!!! Alf

+1 on this choice of dessert wine. I love the taste transition when you sip it. It goes from a smooth sweet, followed shortly afterwards with a spicy finish. Not too hot, but definitely has a nice kick.

Hi Alf: are you still winterizing your escape on the Gulf of Mexico?

Hi Alf: it looks like a nice area- and the Escape Hatch looks at home. I'll want to hear more about it sometime.

Bringing wine back to US

While on the wine tour, we plan on bringing back some Okanagon wine across the US border. We have read the US customs rules for alcohol , and are still confused. We don't mind paying a reasonable amount over and above the allowed limit, but does anyone know what the dutiable amount would be per bottle?

I believe you pay about 25 cents a bottle duty. The wineries will know the details for certain.

You also need to look into how many bottles you can cross with.
Regulation has changed but years ago I had to pour out two dozen beer, which I had declared. I couldn't pay any amount of duty. Agent told me I could go back to US and hide the two cases in a bush, come through with two cases, stash them in Canada and go back to US to pick up the other two.
I opted to pour them out, enduring abuse from others crossing the border since the sink was in a public area.
( to make matters worse, I was bringing Molson Canadian back to Canada during a beer strike )

I have brought booze over the limit back a few times, always declaring it if it is excessive. By excessive I mean just over double the limit. They just waved me through. I imagine the paperwork is not worth it.

I have a friend who has brought wine (and other booze) back many times, lots of it, and did have to pay duty on it, and even though it is considerable for Canadians, he still saves a lot.

I know some Americans at the rally have taken at least a case back.

OK Wine Shuttles will honor last years rate of $65/pp which includes taxes and free wine tasting. They will visit as many wine tours as we would like during the day and stop for lunch at a winery of your choosing. (You must pre-register to secure a seat on either of these tours)

Shuttle 1 & 2:
Visited approximately 5 - 6 Wineries and stopped for lunch. (10am - 5pm)

Each shuttle will hold 14 people, and if necessary we can secure a third van. - this is a very popular event and seats normally fill up quite quickly.

On Saturday if there is enough people interested in a Saturday Wine Tour we can secure a shuttle. Please let me know. Otherwise OK Wine Tours will offer a Hop-On-Hop-Off tour. you can find more information on their website as to how the HOHO tours operate. www.okwineshuttle.ca

Please contact Escape Trailer Industries if you would like to participate in the Wine Tour.

All money will be collected upon check in for the Escape Trailer Rally as OK Wine Shuttle has changed their policy and now requires prepayment.

If you have any questions please contact The Escape Office Team at Escape Trailer Industries.

This crop of local cherries are outstanding for flavour even more than I remember in the past. Hopefully that translates to the grape harvest and to an exceptional vintage for y'all to enjoy next year!

Well that's comforting to learn that all of the propane cannon blasting did some good. If the problem were crows, I'd be a consultant out there. I'd be from over 50 miles and charge exorbitant fees.
