POST-RALLY trip advice? Thinking of traveling north to Salmon Arm and Revelstoke; then back to the south toward Creston. Any recommendations on route options after New Denver for scenery, villages, and campgrounds? Thinking either route 6 south through Nelson, to 3 east; or 31A to 31 at Kaslo south, ferry to 3A. Thanks, Glenn.

We'll be off to Van Island following the rally .....However if we were looking to do something like your plans we would go south on hwy 23 first turn south ( before crossing the bridge from the west ) on the west side of Revy towards the Shelter Bay Ferry ( free inland ferry ) .....
We'd be inclined to halt for a bit at Halcyon ( RV full hook up ) minutes south of disembarking the ferry . Another option is Nakusp HotSprings just a few kilometres farther ( rv camp in there as well ) .
Then New Denver , Kaslo , Ainsworth Hot Springs ( large RV park on the lake close to hot springs ) .
Then Nelson ....from there we would actually go back to the Balfour Ferry ( free inland - beautiful views ) rather than taking the highway down from Nelson . On the other side is a scenic drive on to Creston .

If you like hiking, there's a great hike at Nelson up to "Pulpit Rock" which has a wonderful view of the city itself. It's located very close to the north side of "BOB" otherwise known is Nelson's "Big Orange Bridge" which is difficult to miss. It's about a forty five minute hike up to the main viewpoint. It's reasonably strenuous but not completely gut busting.

We're putting the modern combination together this week with wax jobs on the 19 and the Highlander so she'll glide along the woodlands. The only request I have is not for anything crazy like a tailwind both ways, just no wind or snow would be good with me. Alas I am such a dreamer. Beached whale sighting just south of highway 30 in Iowa today. Nope. Just Iowa Dave making sure his spare tire was fully inflated ( on the Highlander) Har Har. And replacing a license plate light bulb. In Iowa if you have two, they both gotta work or it's probable cause and I don't need that. A little summer shandy in the summer shanty and we will be off like a herd of turtles. Jim Norman, my prediction is your luck is gonna change for the better.

What's gonna be brutal is all the people wearing short pants for the first time this year. Old men with bony legs and upside down biceps. Paints a picture don't it.
