Hi Glenn , Is there actually flooding on that highway ? ( is it closed ?? ) We need to stop in Kelowna before we get to the rally ...so really the only way for us get to Ososyoos ....unless we ( heaven forbid ) make a huge loop over Merrit to Hope ....yikes !

I donno. Snow is melting and Okanagan Lake is already highest in 20 years, but what gets flooded, I don't know.
Best bet is to Google DriveBC for alerts, construction, accidents etc.

Nothing flooded along our trip from Osoyoos to Chilliwack today via Hwy 3. This Best Western near ETI sure is a nice place. Be sure to ask for the ETI special rate.

You could always take Highway 33 from Kelowna to Rock Creek, which is fairly flat, then Highway 3 into Osoyoos. Going that way, you should stop at the Anarchist summit which has wonderful views at the top, before descending down into Osoyoos.

I've done that road and thought it would never end. Spent most of it behind a tandem gravel truck, because there were few passing lanes on the winding road. When he finally turned off we were able to get up to speed. That didn't stop a large full size pickup truck ( with Alberta plates ) towing a huge fifth wheel, from passing us and disappearing around the bend. Outside of Rock Creek, we passed the remains of a very large sticky, off in the trees. Don't think it was the same one, but it could have been, given the way he was driving.

Are you sure it wasn't a small or medium full size truck [emoji41]

It was an Alberta oil-field pickup truck, over-size.

Almost big enough to tow a 17 then?

I didn't say Highway 33 was a great road, you are right, its very boring; however, it was an alternative route, which is why I suggested it. However, we love Highway 3 east of Osoyoos, especially in July and August, when wheat is tall.

Love the Crowsnest Highway ( #3 ), all the way to Alberta.
When it comes to roads, I'd love to move to Chilliwack, just to never have to drive Highway #1 from North Van to Chilliwack, or back. (AKA Coma Road ).

We stayed mostly off of #1 except in Saskatchewan where there was no one even in August.

I can sort of understand that, especially with the upper levels often being like a parking lot. However, as I regularly drive the sea to sky highway to play golf, I would miss the views along #99.

All hooked up and about to pull the pin. Likely staying in the Real Canadian Superstore parking lot in Vernon tonight.

4:25 P.M. on May 24 at the rally: It is 62.6°F/17°C, breezy, gusts to 26 mph; cloudy w/occasional drops of rain. We're watching a parade of Escapes entering the campground, from the rise overlooking the entry/office. This is going to be fun.

Reporting from C-41

We are in Princeton grabbing a bite to eat. Late start due to an issue with our Customs doc, but all good now. We'll be there soon!
