when i needed to cancel i found someone on the forum and then transferred my reservation to them- easy to do. I was credited for my amount paid and the people who got the reservation were charged- very simple if you want to let someone here get a first crack at your reservation.

That's not how it was handled when I wanted to cancel my reservation at a park for the solar eclipse. I was told I could change the name on the reservation, but then that person would have to pay me. They (OR Parks reservation system) would not give me a refund and/or charge the new person. Then you have to trust that the other person will send you the funds and all that. Not everyone is willing to do that, for various reasons. Also, for changing reservations, you have to hope the new person wants it for the same amount of days that you have it for.

We've been transferring sites in the Oregon State Park system for more than 15 years. I've never heard where some all-molded-towable owner took advantage of another owner by not sending the funds. But what we do is not change the name on the reservation, but add the new person's name. ReserveAmerica pretty much stays out of it, other than adding another name. How much money someone asks for the site, is between the old site holder and the new site holder. No scalping, but occasionally someone just gives their site away as an act of kindness.

I see some familiar faces and the weather looks gorgeous. BTW, what is that strange contraption that looks like it is made from forks?

Enjoyed the photos, Jon. We went there after the Fall NOG last year. Beautiful spot and some nice falls, but the weather certainly looks a lot better than it was for us, as we had lots of rain, just about full time. But that was the case for most of the 18 days of our trip in Oregon last fall. Still enjoyed it.

This was our first NOG. So great to meet many of the folks on this forum face-to-face. The weather was fantastic ... until Saturday! Fortunately the rain cleared in time for the potluck. Yea! We look forward to future gatherings and continued friendships.
On Saturday we also had a lovely hike even if it was a bit soggy. A few waterfall photos attached.

I'm home! Left the park just before 1pm yesterday.. before they kicked me out of my site a wonderful, wonderful time. Pretty decent weather too considering it IS fall in Oregon. We could hardly expect better.
Thanks to those that provided pop-ups and folding tables for the potluck. It would NOT have been as successful without your help and kindness. Fortunately the weather changed at the last minute for the better and everyone and everything was dry. Dry enough for a roaring fire!
Jon, thanks too for all the pictures. That's one thing I never take time to do. Even if I always have a digital camera and my iphone, I spend my time walking and visiting with the people.
Until next time, everyone safe, safe travels!
