We left the meet and took a quick trip over to Tombstone and then Organ Pipe. Heading West we've seen several oncoming Escapes, probably heading home from Q'site. It's funny, first the recognition, "Escape", quick look and then gone. Like two ships passing in the night.

How true that is. I love to look around when driving and have worked hard especially in the last few years to correct this behavior. I’ve gotten a lot better and try especially hard to keep my eyes on the road and the rear view mirrors when towing the Escape. So oncoming trailers are usually about even with me before I see them especially on divided roads. When I finally see an Escape it’s usually just in time to see the size and about half the time the graphics color. I rarely pick up the tow vehicle color, model or make. All of this is good for everyone sharing the road with me. My favorite sightings are watching rigs pull into rallies. When my copilot is not studying the insides of her eyelids she spots the occasional Scamp or Casita. We don’t see many Escapes in the Midwest.

We headed to Sedona area after Quartzsite, and are at Dead Horse State Park at Cottonwood. 4 other Escapes trailers here, none of which were at the rally. One fellow was even in my trailer last year at the Escape Rally.

Had a look at Li'l Snoozy here today too.

BTW, kudos to Greg and Earl for setting up some good fun, with a special mention to the soup Nazi's, Ron and Michelle.

How long are you there, Jim? I'll be at an AFrame gathering there (dhrsp) on the 28th.

We are leaving Wednesday most likely, headed south for a bit. Headed to Yuma /Algodones for an appointment on the 28th, then starting the long journey back to the snow.

Passed "Thistle Dew" coming up to Gila Bend. Lots of rain at Organ Pipe last night, glad we did the off road stuff yesterday.

Jim, how's the weather up your way?

Soup Nazi, not to you, only to the people who pestered us for a half hour before it was ready.

It is a bit cooler and we have had intermittent light rain. But, there are hills and trees, a nice change.

A 17 from Victoria BC just pulled in, a total of 6 Escapes here now.

We had a great time at the rally this year, stayed at Dome Rock until Tuesday. Thanks to Jim, Lisa and Jasper for helping us with our crazy dog Dakota. Our goal is that next year they will be buds! This was one of the sunsets from upper road. I didn't have time to get down to our rig so Jim's 5.0 was happy to pose. Had a great time, until next year.....

After 20 days on the road we got home Saturday 10 Feb. Was a whale of a trip. West to Sho Lo, AZ, then Buttercup Sand dunes campground (Imperial Sands State Park, CA), then 4 days at excellent Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve outside San Diego, then north to Malibu Creek State Park, then east to the Happy Traveler RV in Palm Springs for a few days, and then through Joshua Tree NP and finally Quartzsite.

Best lesson learned was, in late January there’s plenty of overnight camping to be had on the coast from the Coronado area right up to Malibu. Was busy editing my trip notes and pictures but, then, several days ago, all that came to a crashing stop. I think it was the Santa Ana Flu. The thing hit us like a 90 pound basket of ball peen hammers. Days of helpless misery but feeling strong enough today to say hey to you all.

Quartzsite lives.

It really was great to put some faces to names of members here. One of my favourite parts of these rallies, so many good folk.

For those that are looking for something to do after the Quartzsite rally, one suggestion is the Annual Western Winter Blast at the SARA Rodeo Grounds in Lake Havasu City, about 80 miles north of Dome Rock. You can make reservations for the 30th, which takes place February 11 - 18th, 2019.

The week of dry camping is a $150.00 donation to the rodeo for the 7 nights, more expensive than Quartzsite, & essentially a small slot in a parking lot. That said, there are 4 nights (Thursday through Sunday) of fireworks for 4 hours per night with demos of manufacturer's new products as well as shows. I was really impressed with the shows, which can be seen from the campground & some campsites.

They sell out the campground by November, start taking reservations today, and, if you want the spot you are currently in, you must reserve by July 31. I made a page with links to hundreds of photos of the show:29th Western Winter Blast 2018, Lake Havasu City, AZ.
