Re: Bulllards Beach in July

I love the Bandon area. There is lots to do there, lots of stuff to see and do within an hours drive too. There are some really nice galleries to go see if you are looking for some art/craft work, we dropped a few hun there last summer.

I could spend a week or so there every year, but then there are so many great places to do that, that one would never get to see them all.

But, so many do always head to these distant places, that they don't take the time to see what is much nearer them too.

The campsite we are planning to use this year (and have used before) is at Tumalo, which is half way between Bend and Sisters. It is a small state campsite, but does have electrical hookups, solar showers and flush toilets. Tumalo is about 12 miles from Sisters. The area is volcanic, and there are many cone shaped mountains in the area. Crater Lake is south of Bend and worth a day trip on its own. The rim of the crater usually still has snow even in summer, you can drive all around the cone. A truly beautiful spot.

The Sisters Quilt show usually has over 1000 quilts, some showing great artistic ability. Women (more than 30,000!) outnumber men 10 to 1 at this event, but there is so much to see and photograph that you get caught up in the excitement, and it is all over in one day! In the surrounding area there are beautiful pine forests and fields with fine horses.

Hi: Jim Bennett... It is sometimes eye opening to tour around your own back yard. We just finished showing some family from out west around here and discovered things we overlook every day. Alf

Re: Bulllards Beach in July

Well we are down to the count down as a week from Wednesday Reace, myself and the girls will begin our trek to Bullards Beach...The girls are so excited. They have already signed up for the jewlery class on Friday and rock painting on Saturday.

We will be leaving Chilliwack on Wednesday morning and shooting straight through to Champooeg, OR where we will spend the night, charge through Camping World and Costco... . Thursday we will make the final trek down the coast and to Bullards Beach.

We love attending this rally as everyone is just happy to be out camping. There is so much to do ... last year we took of quading on the sand dunes and the girls went into Bandon to the zoo where they got to pet a 6 week old lepord cub.

I think we will be spending a lot of time in B loop with the other Escapees but they will also be in A loop for many of the activities.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Hi Tammy & Reace,
What time do you think you'll be heading out on Wednesday?
We're going to push on through to Bandon, but maybe we'll see you on the road.

Re: Bulllards Beach in July

We hope to be on the road about 8am depending on how long it takes us at customs...Last year we were delayed by about an hour as we tried to convince them it was a family vacation ...LOL

This year we know what to say...Reace is already to pinch Leah so she starts crying after a few minutes.

Re: Bulllards Beach in July

Reace and I really like the Escape 5.0., and this year with the subtle changes we made (to the depth of the cabinets, bathroom, and wardrobe closet) provided us with a good excuse to see what the 'larger space' feels like inside.

I assume this is what you mean when you said what else are you taking?

Last year we used a 13' Plan A for the start of the season and then switched over to the 19' Escape and the year before was a 17' Escape, Plan B. We try to use a different model each year as it allows us to get a feel for each trailer and how it works for both a family of four and a couple (these opportunities are far and few between )

Hi: All... At the U.S. Customs booth last year the officer asked me "What is the purpose of your vacation"? After a long.... Jack Bennyesque...pause I looked at him and said "VACATION"!!! Then the lightbulb went on so he said "Have a nice trip". Alf

Heh Tammy,
Are the changes detailed somewhere? If so, I've missed them. I'm assuming the cabinets to the entrance will be a little less deep? What about the bath/wardrobe? I'm beginning to think about how to better utilize the space in that cabinet to the right of the entrance myself.
Have fun at Bullards, and yes, post pictures and details of your changes.
