Re: Bulllards Beach in July

It is a neat little town with lots of neat shops....(went there as part of our honeymoon and have been back a couple times since)
Park is very nice--lighthouse is neat to look at.
I've only been the once to the rally, but it was a very nice time, met a lot of great people and enjoyed the workshops..
All this talk is making me wish I could go--but darn we gotta work...
MAYBE next year with a trip to Crater Lake before hand..

Message from Nancy, the hostess of the Oregon Gathering!

Have you reserved a campsite at Bullards Beach during the Oregon Gathering? But… did you sign up for the Gathering? Please check on this map to make sure you’re listed:
http://www.casitaforum.com/bullards/...P-2010.css.htm

If you are not on that map, then you are not registered for the Gathering and we don’t know you are coming. Please go here to sign up for the Gathering.

Re: Bulllards Beach in July

Hello,

Reace and I will be leaving Chilliwack Tuesday night after work and traveling as far as Bellingham. We will stay at the Bellingham RV Park where we will get some groceries and maybe do some shopping at Bellis Fair.

Wednesday we will travel as far as Champooeg, OR and Thursday we will travel the rest of the way to Bullards.

If there is anyone who would like to travel with us or meet up, please let us know. In January I will be making our reservations and last year we booked all of the sites at once. We always have some extra marshmallows and wine. ..last year there were three of us at the start and we met several other fiberglass owners travelling down to Bullards on the way. It was a lot of fun checking out everyones trailer ahead of time, shopping and sharing stories.

Tammy & Reace

Oh wow, what a good ploy to try to get more folks to want to go. It would be fun, but there are just way too many other fun things to do.

Re: Bulllards Beach in July

I've booked my site and paid for it, but I still don't know if I will actually go. I've googled the area and other than the egg gathering itself, I don't know what the great attraction is.
That week in July is one of the best weather-wise in this area. And I could head into the Chilcotin or Cariboo or, the list just goes on and on. I only get seven weeks holidays and I have to spend them wisely

Re: Bulllards Beach in July

We had fun when we went there a couple years ago--we love the Oregon coast..
But last year we did the Charlottes and this coming July we have my parents 50th and are doing an Alaskan cruise the whole family (daughters and their spouses)

So no egg meet for us.... Glen it is neat to meet the other egg owners and they have great workshops and seeing others trailers and what they have done to spruce them up.... And of course the pot lucks are great food...

Maybe next year in 2011 after doing Crater Lake first?? (although someone I know wants to go to Paris in the spring of 2011) ( he has to get the labor situation settled before we plan anything)

Glenn

We camped in Bandon in July 2005. It is a tidy little town with a good bookstore and an interesting lighthouse. From here you can easily take day trips up or down the coast. We made a day trip down to Crescent City and returned through the Redwood forest and Grant's Pass. Near the Oregon California border on the coast there is a huge Easter lily growing area.

You could combine a trip to Bandon with a visit to Crater Lake which is a fantastic natural wonder. http://www.nps.gov/crla/index.htm

We will be visiting Sisters Oregon (in the central high desert) just before the Bandon gathering. The attraction is the world's largest outdoor quilt show which has to be seen to be believed. http://www.sistersoutdoorquiltshow.org/

I can understand those that haven't visited the area, would think other than a quaint little town... what's to see? Here's one link from an author that states "Bandon listed as one of America's top 100 vacation towns" in the country: http://www.katu.com/entertainment/44934452.html.

Nancy listed this information: Attractions & Things to Do, In & Around Bandon, Oregon
http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/in...howtopic=19082, I just updated all the links.

2010 will be my 7th Oregon Gathering in seven years. I typically am in Bandon for 10 days each time and each year I find something new to discover. I'm not much of a shopper, but do enjoy window shopping at handmade crafts, kites, etc., etc. Besides the views and vistas of the Oregon coast in the area are absolutely breathtaking. Great places to be found for photography and solitude.

YMMV
