Camping at Bodega Dunes SP
A few weeks ago, there was a thread about how many people were getting Escape trailers in the San Francisco Bay Area. I suggested maybe we could get together some time. See http://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f3...t-ca-6798.html Well, we were planning to go camping somewhere else in mid February but had to cancel. We aren't giving up on February. We just booked a campground in Bodega Dunes campground, part of Sonoma Coast State Park, for Thursday, Feb 25- Sunday Feb 28. Park info is at Sonoma Coast SP I can't tell you what site we will be in as they assign camp sites when you arrive. If there are other Bay Area (or other) Escape owners who want to join us, that would be great. There won't be any organization to this campout, but we can hang out at someone's campfire and maybe a sharing of treats and such. We'd be open to a Saturday potluck if anyone else is interested.

Sorry about that. We have limited schedule availability as we volunteer with AARP Foundation Tax-Aide during tax season. Yes, we will do it again, I'm sure.

Sounds like a genuine California NOG (Not-organized-gathering).
We might just do this; have to discuss with Wife/calendar operator!!!

Bodega Dunes
We just made reservations for Feb. 26-29, 2016. We have a conflict for Thursday evening, so we arrive a day late, but extended one day longer.
There is still one campsite available. They allow pets at the campground, but not on the beach; however, when I specified a pet, they had no sites available, so I made a reservation without hitting the options button for pets. Hopefully, they won't object to our crippled miniature poodle.
We're looking forward to getting out camping again, and meeting other Escapists. A potluck on Saturday sounds good.

Julie and I don't get our trailer until the end of March but we plan to come up and check out the festivities on Saturday. Love the idea of us NorCal folk getting together. And any excuse to go to bodega Bay is good enough for us.

We just tried to reserve a site since we are currently near L.A. and will be heading north along the coast. But there weren't any sites available. So will have to wait a bit before we make another west coast gathering.

Apparently, they don't have the whole campground open this time of year. Who knew it could be so busy this time of year! Well, I guess I will have to plan better next time.... But at least there will be 2 of us.
This tells me there is interest in such an event. Perhaps we can pick a date farther in advance like other "real" meetups do.

I would love to see a NorCal rally. Maybe plan one for the fall (late September or October) so we all have time to get it into our schedules? We are looking forward to it!

There seems to be some interest in a rally. I'm interested in what you would prefer for a rally. Please copy these questions and paste your answers and we will see if we have consensus how to proceed:
1) I would like a rally in October in Nor Cal.
2) I would attend a rally October 20-23.
3) I would attend but would prefer a different date:
4) I would prefer the rally at a state or regional park (no hookups but a park setting)
5) I would prefer the rally at a private park (hookups but parking close together)
6) I have a specific suggestion for a place:
7) I would prefer a gathering with little organization (maybe a potluck)
8) I would prefer more activities
9) I would help organize the rally including activities

Thanks for initiating this!
1) I would like a rally in October in Nor Cal. Yes!
2) I would attend a rally October 20-23. Yes!
3) I would attend but would prefer a different date: Probably any date late September or in October would be good.
4) I would prefer the rally at a state or regional park (no hookups but a park setting). We prefer a beautiful campground over the convenience of hookups.
5) I would prefer the rally at a private park (hookups but parking close together). Would like to have hookups but if we had to choose, would prefer better campsites.
6) I have a specific suggestion for a place: Within a 2, maybe 3 hour drive of the Bay area/Sacramento would be ideal.
7) I would prefer a gathering with little organization (maybe a potluck).
8) I would prefer more activities. A potluck and maybe a hike? I'm ok either way on #7 an #8.
9) I would help organize the rally including activities. Sure!

Jill, not to horn in on this discussion but I see you're interested in a NorCAL rally. These are a couple I already know about:
Sept. 15-19, 2016 in Quincy, CA at the Pioneer RV Park
Oct 20-24, 2016 at Lake Casitas

Donna,
Thanks for pointing these out. It's always good to have options.
I cannot attend the Quincy rally this year due to a date conflict.
Lake Casitas is actually in southern CA near Ventura.

Here are my selections:
1) I would like a rally in October in Nor Cal. YES
2) I would attend a rally October 20-23. YES
3) I would attend but would prefer a different date: N/A
4) I would prefer the rally at a state or regional park (no hookups but a park setting) I PREFER A PARK AND ONE THAT IS READILY ACCESSIBLE FOR TRAILERS.
5) I would prefer the rally at a private park (hookups but parking close together) HOOKUPS ARE NICE BUT CA STATE AND REGIONAL PARKS IN NORCAL DON'T HAVE HOOKUPS, AT LEAST NOT THOSE ON THE COAST. AT LEAST, I HAVEN'T FOUND ANY YET. I WISH WE HAD OREGON STATE PARKS CLOSER TO US!
6) I have a specific suggestion for a place: WE ARE CAMPING IN BODEGA DUNES AND WILL CHECK OUT OTHER NEARBY PARKS. WE HAVEN'T FOUND A PRIVATE PARK WE WOULD RECOMMEND BUT WE HAVEN'T SEEN MANY YET OTHER THAN THE RUSSIAN RIVER AREA.
7) I would prefer a gathering with little organization (maybe a potluck) YES
8) I would prefer more activities I AGREE WITH A HIKE, OUR USUAL ACTIVITY AT A PARK
9) I would help organize the rally including activities DUH, OBVIOUSLY.

Thanks Donna! We just got back (literally 1 hour ago) from the Lake Casitas area but Quincy is a great spot that we would love to visit again. I will check that out!
